Step 1: Choose your water-slide
pictures and decide how you
want to arrange them on the
chosen surface.
Step 2: Clean the surface and
then paint it with your chosen
chalk paint. Allow time for it to
dry properly, then seal the surface
with one coat of La Lacquer
sealer. Let it dry completely.
Step 3: Once the surface is dry
and ready, add enough water
into the serving tray to allow you
to soak the water-slide picture. It
may curl up when you put it into
the water.
Step 4: Gently stretch and
smooth it out while ensuring
that the whole surface/picture is
soaked. This will take less than a
minute.
Step 5: While the picture is still
in the water, gently start to shift/
move the bottom layer from the
top as soon as it starts to lift.
Step 6: Wet the surface (in this
case the door panel) slightly and
evenly with water.
Step 7: Lay/position the picture
onto the door surface and
smooth it out while cautiously
and completely removing the
bottom (the base) layer from the
picture.
Step 8: Once completed, crumble
the base in your hand and use it
to smooth out the picture on the
new surface.
Step 9: These pictures are
fairly robust, so it is possible to
reposition or straighten them.
Step 10: Allow it to dry for 24
hours and then paint it with a thin
layer of lacquer to seal the surface
and make it water-resistant and
easy to clean.
It is possible to place these water
slide pictures onto glass surfaces/
objects.
Wet the glass object before you
transfer the picture, place the
object in the oven and switch
it on. Set the oven to 160°C
and as soon as it reaches the
temperature, bake/dry it for 20
minutes. It must also be left in the
oven to cool down.
