emote places such as the Kruger
National Park and Botswana. You will
gain knowledge from experienced
instructors who have a combined
120+ years’ real life bush experience. In
an untamed wilderness overflowing
with life, you will come face to
face with the Big 5 as well as other
spectacular animals. During this year,
you will be exposed to life-changing
experiences in Africa. If this is not
enough, you will create friendships
forged around the camp fire and
memories that will stay with you for a
lifetime.
What does an EcoTraining professional
field guide course entail?
Up to five months of theoretical and
practical training with highly qualified
instructors will qualify you with various
certificate courses. The following five
to six months will be at a lodge where
you will work with experienced guides
and lodge managers, mentoring
you and developing your newly
acquired skills. At the end of the
course you will not only be qualified,
but will have also gained invaluable
working and practical experience.
Even better is that for this year of
adventure, environmental education
and conservation, you walk away with
national accreditation by CATHSSETA,
an endorsement by the Field Guide
Association of Southern Africa
(FGASA). Doing this course has many
benefits, especially with EcoTraining.
The professional field guide students
comprise a group of up to 20 people
from all around the world. You want to
learn a new culture? You have 20 from
which to choose. Not to mention the
culture of nature and its inhabitants.
Living in the bush has a magical way
of harnessing the best version of you.
Your vision becomes clearer, your
instincts become sharper and not
to mention the close observation
encounters of wild animals passing
through the camp! So, if you love the
idea of taking guests from all over the
world out on walking and game drive
safaris into Africa’s wild places, finding
wildlife for them, teaching them
fascinating facts about the animals
and ecosystems, then EcoTraining’s
professional field guide course is
for you.
