OCHSNER DONA 4000 MASCARILLAS FACIALES CON VENTANA A LAS ESCUELAS DE LA
PARROQUIA DE JEFFERSON
Jefferson Parish Schools
(JP Schools) recibió 4,000
máscaras faciales con ventanas
transparentes de Ochsner
Health para ayudar a los
maestros y estudiantes a
comunicarse mejor mientras
se adhieren a los protocolos de
salud y seguridad. Desarrolladas
por el equipo de Ochsner iO en
colaboración con patólogos del
habla, las máscaras con ventanas
permitirán a los estudiantes
ver los labios del instructor y
eliminar una posible barrera de
comunicación.
“Nuestra prioridad continúa
siendo brindar el mejor
ambiente de educación y
aprendizaje posible para
nuestros estudiantes y al mismo
tiempo mantener a todos
seguros”, dijo el Dr. James Gray,
superintendente de las escuelas
de la parroquia de Jefferson.

por esta innovadora solución
y donación. Las máscaras
faciales con ventana apoyarán
en gran medida la enseñanza
y el aprendizaje al tiempo
que cumplen con nuestros
protocolos de salud y seguridad
".

o la cara de otra persona cuando

Pritchett, maestra de Bonnabel
Magnet Academy. "Esto hará

ellos escuchar lo que estoy
diciendo y luego concentrarse
realmente en lo que estamos
aprendiendo".
Las máscaras se distribuirán a
los maestros y empleados de la
parroquia de Jefferson, dando
prioridad a aquellos que trabajan
con los estudiantes más jóvenes
y con discapacidad auditiva. Si
bien ver los labios de alguien
mientras se comunica puede
beneficiar a todas las personas,
quienes confían en la fonética y
las expresiones faciales recibirán
el mayor beneficio.
Las escuelas de la parroquia de
Jefferson continúan siguiendo
su plan Start Strong Jefferson
, que se desarrolló utilizando
la orientación basada en
evidencia de Ochsner Health,
el Departamento de Educación
de Louisiana y el Departamento
de Salud de Louisiana para la
salud y la seguridad. Start Strong
Jefferson requiere que todos los
estudiantes y empleados de
la parroquia de Jefferson usen
cubiertas para la cara mientras
estén en el campus, además
de distanciamiento social,

Jefferson Parish Schools
Jefferson Parish Schools (JP
Schools) was the recipient of
4,000 clear windowed face
masks from Ochsner Health
to help teachers and students
better communicate while
adhering to health and safety
protocols. Developed by the
Ochsner iO team in collaboration
with speech pathologists, the
windowed masks will enable
students to see the instructor’s
lips and remove a potential
communication barrier.
“Our priority continues to be
delivering the best education
and learning environment
possible for our students while
keeping everyone safe,” said
Dr. James Gray, Superintendent
for Jefferson Parish Schools.
“Thank you to Ochsner Health
for this innovative solution
and donation. The windowed
face masks will greatly support
teaching and learning while
complying with our health and
safety protocols.”
"All students can benefit from
it, I believe. Because all of us
instinctually look at another
person's mouth or face when
they speak," said Ms. Jennifer
Pritchett, a teacher at Bonnabel
Magnet Academy. "This will
make it much easier for them
to hear what I'm saying and
then really concentrate on what
we're learning."
The masks will be distributed to
Jefferson Parish teachers and
employees with priority given to
those who work with the hearing
impaired and youngest students.
While seeing someone’s lips
while communicating can
benefit all individuals, those
who rely on phonics and facial
expressions will receive the
greatest benefit.
Jefferson Parish Schools
continues to follow its Start
Strong Jefferson plan, which was
developed using evidence-based
guidance from Ochsner Health,
the Louisiana Department of
Education and the Louisiana
Department of Health for health
and safety. Start Strong Jefferson
requires all Jefferson Parish
students and employees to wear
face coverings while on campus,
in addition to social distancing,
symptom monitoring, increased
hand-washing and disinfecting
of high-touch surfaces.
