NEW SOUTH WALES NEWS NSW TAXI COUNCIL WAT TRAINING The NSW Taxi Council launched the Wheelchair Accessible Taxi (WAT) Training in early February, 2019. The training was a success with all students passing through as competent. The NSW Taxi Council will continue to deliver the WAT training, with the next course scheduled for early March. For more information please contact the NSW Taxi Council on (02) 8339 4644. The NSW Taxi Council also delivers the Gold Level Training. This program focuses on upskilling Taxi Drivers who provide transport to passengers with Special Needs. The Gold Level Training has received endorsement from the Department of Veteran Affairs, and is a great program for any Taxi Network looking to build their business with the special needs sector. Major Event in New South Wales HARBOUR SCULPTURE 16 March Free and highly successful, this Australia Day Awardwinning annual exhibition will feature more than 100 sculptures, created by some of Australia’s most recognised artists. Artists aim to present, support and encourage contemporary Australian sculpture that reflects the history and place of sculpture in Australia. This not-for-profit and volunteer-based community organisation, is dedicated to fostering contemporary art. The event is expected to attract 30,000 plus visitors this year, from all ages, including school groups, college students, art lovers, senior citizens and the curious. Artists share in cash prizes, provided for by generous sponsors, and all works will be available for sale. For the first time, schools can also enter artworks for prizes. Outdoor exhibits can be viewed at beautiful Clarkes Point Reserve, Woolwich, and indoor sculptures will be easily accessible, inside the Hunters Hill Sailing Club. Come and engage with the community in this visual experience of sculptural works against their beautiful harbour location.
