PARKAL MISSION
HISTORY
e commemoration of the Advent of C.M.S Missionaries to Kerala on 1916 paved way to extent the mission of
God beyond culture language and region. e God’s call to Parkal through the Rt. Rev. V. S. Assariah, the then
Bishop of Dornakal Diocese channelled the birth of Parkal mission. e Bishop challenged and made a call to the
gathering to spread the light beyond the boundaries and asked, who will go to Parkal….? ”A committed young
man named K.E. Eapen dedicated himself and wrote with his blood by cutting his finger that ,”I am ready to go
to Parkal. February 24, 1924, K.E. Eapen (Kannattusseril House, Kanjikuzhy) reached in a small village called Katrapally
the CSI PARKAL MISSION was born. e ardent commitment and selfless sacrificial efforts of the pioneer
missionaries, lay missionaries, sisters and boundless support of CSI Madhya Kerala Diocese made this mission
to extent the love of God throughout the last 95 years.
Once Parkal was a brightened, remote and miserably backward village, where the people, untouched by modern
civilization, where routing under nauseatingly poor conditions in life. ey were living in superstitions, believing
in the village Gods, sorcerers and occultists who practice witch–craft. But today there are many Christians in
Parkal living in light of Christ. Many more are being attracted to the enriching influence of Christianity.

suffering with snake and scorpion bites. For medical assistance they have to travel 25-50 km to get medical
aid (where there is not much public transportation system). It is our vision to start medical assistance and ‘Medical
