ODISHA MISSIONMission in Odisha was a project commenced at the of Bi-Centenerary celebration of CSI MadhyaKerala Diocese. We received a piece of land, in Titlagarh, which is a part of Bolangir district. In theyear 2013, Rev. Biju Eapen, was put in charge to commence the Missions. When we started thismissions, we have also encountered many hindrances from localities.When we hear the name Odisha, the first thing that come to our mind, the death of Rev.Grahamstaines and his two little children which were charred to death, and the incident happened inKhondhomal district, where the violence erupted in the year 2012. ese instances were not a stumblingblock to missions in Odisha. Infact, the blood of a martyr is the seed of the church is really witnessingin this state.e place where we are located is one of the hottest place in India. Even though we say we are advancedin many areas, still we find caste systems prevails. Necromancy and witchcraft are religiouslyfollowed even today. Differences in caste leads them to separation of people in the villages. People areleaving below poverty, adequate job creation, lack of good hospitals, lack of good educational institutionsand children not send to school are the social problems over the years we have noticed.People who come forward by accepting Christ, will be considered as an outcast. ey are denied therights from Governmental organizations, and hence subsidy is denied. Still in the midst of any difficultythey stand in faith as a testimony for the living God, and not denying their faith.Now, under the leadership of six Missionaries, we are covering 38 villages. Our Missionaries are challengedevery day in the field. We are conducting Sunday worship, Friday fasting prayers, Cottageprayer, Sunday school, Open Air Meeting, Visiting the Believers residence and praying with them areour work on a regular basis.Currently 130 families have come as our members, 1200 plus believers have come forward throughour work in these mission field.As a social service to the society, we have started Tuition centers in these villages and more than 200children’s are attending the classes. e children in these villages are not able to read and write.44
Our Mission understood the difficulty they are facing and hence we teach them and bring in them theknowledge of reading and writing. Every year we are giving notebooks and study materials to our studentsfree of cost.Creation of Job : To find their own livelihood, we started to equip them with some technical knowhow. ATailoring Project was commenced with a view to equip ladies to stand on their own, and in four villages thisclasses is conducted. e students who completed the course, were able to find Job and are sustaining bythemselves.Church : We have two churches in our Villages. Every Sunday we conduct worship in these villages. In Missioncentre, the first Sunday all believers including all missionaries assemble for Sunday worship, with a fellowshiplunch the believers depart.Community College : For the under privileged children in villages, community college is under constructionin our Mission Centre. e Primary Motive of this is to start Electrical, Computer and Tailoring classes andDay Care CentreMission – umudibondha : We have also started a new mission in a remote village in Khondhomal district,and we have adopted four missionaries from this tribal village. e work is in progress, and Church Plantingis the motive behind this missions.Bible Training : Missionaries are trained in Bible every year. By this our missionaries are equipped with handlingBible difficulties apologetically. is provides a great confidence for their faith and in practical Missions.e Odisha Mission is truly built up on the Great Commission of Christ. Our Focus is on winning Souls forHis Kingdom.e expected expenses incur for the following other activities1. Sponsoring a Missionary for One Month (6500/-)2.
