Protective Equipment<br />
1. No taping of any part of the<br />
hand, thumb or fingers will be permitted<br />
in the discus and javelin<br />
throws, and the shot put, except to<br />
cover or protect an open wound. In<br />
the hammer throw, taping of individual<br />
fingers is permissible. Any<br />
taping must be shown to the head<br />
event judge before the event starts.<br />
2. In the pole vault, the use of a<br />
forearm cover to prevent injuries is<br />
permissible.<br />
1. It is forbidden to wear any<br />
object that may cause an injury or<br />
give an artificial advantage to the<br />
player, including but not limited to<br />
headgear, jewelry and unsafe casts<br />
or braces. Religious medallions or<br />
medical identifications must be<br />
removed from chains and taped or<br />
sewn under the uniform.<br />
2. All jewelry must be removed.<br />
Earrings must be removed. Taping<br />
of earrings or other jewelry is not<br />
permitted.<br />
3. Hard splints or other potentially<br />
dangerous protective devices worn<br />
on the arms or hands are prohibited,<br />
unless padded on all sides with<br />
at least ½-inch thick of slow<br />

prevents one’s opponent from<br />
applying normal holds shall be<br />

2. Any legal device that is hard<br />
and abrasive must be covered and<br />
padded. Loose pads are prohibited.<br />

wear a protective mouth<br />
