MODERNBEAUTY MAGAZINE “IN LIFE, YOU’VE JUST GOT TO SHOW UP EVERY DAY AND KEEP ON GOING. AND WHEN YOU DO THAT CONSISTENTLY ENOUGH, YOU GET STRONGER.” Talk to us about your passion for fitness. What’s your go-to workout? I’ve loved fitness since I was a young girl. Sweating, letting out those endorphins and just moving is so important for me to feel healthy. My go-to workout is spinning—we call it “cycle practice” at the studio where I train now. It’s so much fun to get on a bike and get into it with the music—it’s like we’re dancing. We really have the best time! Is there a particular studio or online class that you recommend? Whenever I would travel to New York—which, before the pandemic, was often—I would go to a studio there called Aarmy. I remember the first class I ever went to. I was really struggling at the time. When I was younger, I had an eating disorder, which I recovered from. Then 14 years later, around the time I left law and launched Cotidien, the stress got to me and I relapsed. The coach, Akin Akman, used words that really spoke to me in that moment. He reminded me that there will always be struggles in life. The important thing isn’t to be perfect, it’s to Keep. On. Peddling. In life, you’ve just got to show up every day and keep on going. And when you do that consistently enough, you get stronger. What I try to focus on now is building that strength—mentally and physically—and Aarmy helps me do that on a daily basis. Tell us more about your family. What’s it like being a mom of three? I have two boys and a girl aged eight, seven and six. They’re all almost a year apart, which, yes, sounds ludicrous! What was I thinking?! But for real: I love being a mom. I remember when I was working as a lawyer, it was so hard. I was not home a lot, and when I was in the office, all I could think about was “What are my kids doing? What are they eating? Are they OK?” Now that I’m doing my own thing, I’m definitely still busy, but I’m able to see them a lot more because I mainly work from home. They’re great kids for sure, and sometimes they even help me out with work: My six-year-old organizes my paperwork. It’s so cute. So, what brought you to the TMB clinic and Dr. Born? Well… speaking of motherhood, having kids definitely does something to your body! After nursing three babies for three years, my breasts were... terrible. I remember getting dressed one day and my husband, who’s the most uncritical person in the world, said to me, “Maybe we should see some doctors about your breasts?” And I was 100% in total agreement. I was referred to Dr. Born in Toronto, so my husband and I flew in to see him for an appointment. And when we met him, we both immediately fell in love. He understood what I wanted right away. I am so happy with the results.. >> 20
