The earliest history of sunglasses dates back to the Eskimos, who
tried to protect their eyes from the cold by punching small holes
in their ivory or rib bones. Emperor Nero, on the other hand, is
known to be the first to wear sunglasses. With sunglasses made
of emerald, Nero aimed to watch the Gladiator fights without
being affected by the sun.
There is a very interesting story about the foundation of
sunglasses in China in the 12th century. Because the purpose
of the Chinese was not to protect from the sun, but to hide the
facial expressions of the judges in the courts. This is the reason
why there are sunglasses in the Statue of Justice in China.
The 18th century is the turning point in the
transformation of sunglasses to look like today.
With the discovery that colored glasses

of use of these glasses becomes clearer.
In 1929, Sam Foster, founder of the
Foster Grant of Atlantic City in the
United States, began mass production
of sunglasses, thus increasing the
popularity of glasses. With sunglasses
that we saw in the eyes of Hollywood
stars in the 1960s, this accessory
becomes an indispensable part of
fashion.

12. yüzyılda Çin’de güneş gözlüğü temellerinin atılmasının
oldukça ilginç bir hikayesi var. Çünkü Çinliler’in amacı
güneşten korunmak değil, mahkemelerde yargıçların yüz
ifadelerini gizlemekti. Çin’deki Adalet Heykeli’nde bir
güneş gözlüğü olmasının sebebi de bu sebeptendir.
18. yüzyıl, güneş gözlüklerinin bugünkü
haline benzer bir hale dönüşmesinde
dönüm noktası. İtalya’da renkli camların
güneşten koruduğunun keşfiyle birlikte
bu camların kullanım amacı daha da
netleşiyor. 1929’da Amerika’da Foster

üretimine başlıyor ve böylelikle
