Board Botschaft: Your Attention Please

Well let’s see what’s new since last we spoke in January
right after our Founders Day event? Geez, a quarter of
the year has passed already and suffice to say despite
COVID still on our minds we started the new year
quick with members enjoying all we have to offer from
Autocross and DE to Rallies and Tours to Tech Sessions
not to mention our club sponsored coffee meets each
month; Mavs & Mochas and Motoring Mavs at Mayo.
With all this going on have you ever stopped for
a moment and pondered how the heck does this stuff
happen? Is it all just on auto pilot?
Let me tell you we have the best volunteers and Chairs
of any club in the country. We have about 40 members,
your board, that day after day, work behind the scenes
to bring pleasure to the some 2200 primary and 1100
affiliate members nearly 3300 in total.
Ok that’s impressive and like I said we all do this for YOU!
Now I need your help. Our volunteers go to great
lengths to put on our events from a 15 car popcorn rally,
50 person tech session, 100 car tour, and lastly our All
Member Party with nearly 400 members. Some of these
events are free for the club to put on and some have a
cost associated with it. Some you register for and some
you just show up and we love it when you show up.
Here’s the deal. Our NO shows of late can be 20-30%
of expected attendance. This is a two-fold problem.
First, if you don’t show and it’s limited attendance
you prevent someone from enjoying the experience.
Secondly, a great deal of planning goes into these and
when we anticipate 100 people at a venue and only 70
show . . . well you get it.

So, while we love putting events on, what we need
from you is to merely show up, barring a family
emergency. We love to see you out with us. If your plans
change and you registered for an event, contact us. We
know stuff happens.
Sound like something we can do? I think so! Remember,
what our Maverick volunteers do is for you, our members.

If like me, you are a regular at our monthly Mavs & Mochas or our annual “big” social
events (All Member Party and Founders Day), odds are you have met this trio.
This month we would like to celebrate our Mavs of the Month, the Stogner Family! Members
since 2016, Landon and his two sons Corbin and Brady are always out and about driving friendships!
There is nothing these three will not do to help. Landon, aka DAD, is of course our Volunteer
Chair helping many of our other board members get the needed help to pull off their respective events.
So, dad is most often seen, orange cones in hand, directing the parking lot traffic.
Then there’s son number one, Corbin, who is right there, donut and coffee drink in hand,
taking and giving orders.
Lastly there is son number two, Brady, who many of you know from his occasional articles
in Slipstream and as our PCA Juniors Ambassador. It was Brady and Corbin who entertained us
all with the Porsche Experience Center and Raceway, with of course plenty of diecast Porsches
to create the fun at our All Member Party in March.
So with heartfelt gratitude we thank the Stogner crew for all they do to make our events run
so smoothly.
