MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR
The Sacred Breath Project
As the chair of the Ohio
Nurses Foundation (ONF),
I am pleased to announce
another important partnership.
ONF formed a collaboration
with Kent State University’s
Wick Poetry Center.
The project is titled
“Sacred Breath: Voices of
Ohio Nurses in Response
to COVID-19.” The project
gives nurses a safe platform

to share their feelings they’ve experienced
while caring for others during the pandemic. It’s
important to capture the authentic voices of our
colleagues. We need to understand the lived
experiences of nurses so we can learn what we
need to do differently. The emotions experienced
won’t end with the pandemic. “Nurses have vital
insight into how they’re coping, the toll this work
has on their personal and professional lives and
what, if anything has helped them make sense of
this troubling time.” says David Hassler, Director of
the Wick Poetry Center.
This digital community arts project offers
Ohio nurses a place to pause and reflect. By
visiting www.sacredbreathproject.com, nurses
can seek inspiration, share their stories and write
expressively about their experiences. While on the
website, you will be able to read the contributions
of nurses from around Ohio.

Are you looking to make a career
change? Southwest Healthcare has
an opening for a MA/LPN!
Our nursing staff provide care to adults with severe and persistent
mental illness. This MA/LPN position is a Full-time position divided
between both Morrow and Delaware County, and is both community
and office based to coordinate and provide care to patients.
Phlebotomy experience is required. You will room patients, perform
patient checks, reconcile medications, provide patient education,
make referrals, and ensure proper linkage to resources. You will also
work as part of an interdisciplinary team and will see patients on
an individual basis who are diagnosed with chronic mental illness.
You will be responsible for providing effective education, selfmanagement
tools and support, and timely healthcare delivery to
achieve optimal health outcomes.
Requirements: Ohio MA/LPN license is required. Previous
experience in behavioral healthcare and/or nursing care
management is preferred. The regular work schedule is Monday -
Friday 8am-5pm and you get to work 2 days at the Delaware office
and 3 days at the Long Street office.
