LifesaversBy Councillor Shaun O’NeillOne of the opening games of the Euros2020 produced more drama than theactual football being played.The Denmark Captain, 29 year old ChristianEriksen suddenly collapsed on the pitch andsuffered a potentially fatal cardiac arrest,fortunately one of the players had had firstaid training and cleared the Danish Captain’sairway. The two club doctors made their wayinto the pitch with a defibrillator and literally brought Christian backto life with this simple but highly effective machine.The incident was reported to the millions watching the game andthis has highlighted the need for more of these machines to bemade more available in Towns, Cities and Villages throughout theCountry.
