Young Achiever Award<br />
<strong>Wigan</strong> Soroptimists are seeking a girl or young woman<br />
who is worthy of their Young Achiever award for <strong>2021</strong>.<br />
Soroptimist International of <strong>Wigan</strong> is part of a worldwide<br />
organisation of women who work via projects, fundraising,<br />
and advocacy to advance the status of women and girls at<br />
national and international level.<br />
The Young Achiever award was launched in 2012 and<br />
anyone can make a nomination. The nominees will be<br />
judged on individual achievements such as service to the<br />
community, acts of bravery, overcoming life’s difficulties,<br />
young carer, business skills, outstanding performance at<br />
school or college, or in the fields of sport or entertainment.<br />
The winner will have her name engraved on the Club’s<br />
large trophy. She will receive an engraved miniature<br />
trophy, presented by the Mayor of <strong>Wigan</strong>, together with<br />
a cash prize of £100. The age range for nominees is 11-19<br />
years and they must come from the catchment area of the<br />
Club, which is essentially the <strong>Wigan</strong> Borough excluding<br />
the Leigh, Tyldesley and Atherton districts.<br />
The nomination form can be obtained on request from<br />
secretary.siwigan@gmail.com or can be downloaded<br />
from the website www.sigbi.org/wigan. The deadline for<br />
applications is 30th October <strong>2021</strong>.<br />
Business Breakfast<br />
<strong>Wigan</strong> Athletic’s Chief Executive Mal Brannigan is the<br />
guest speaker at <strong>Wigan</strong> Youth Zone’s Business Breakfast<br />
event on Friday 3rd <strong>September</strong>.<br />
This popular monthly networking event is being held<br />
‘in person’ for the first time in <strong>2021</strong>, and hot drinks will<br />
be available from 7am, with breakfast barms following<br />
shortly afterwards. The event finishes at 9am/9.15am and<br />
is sponsored by rijo42 and Kings Fine Cooked Meats.<br />
Entrance to the meeting is £10 per person to support the<br />
ongoing work at <strong>Wigan</strong> Youth Zone. To book your place<br />

The deadline for bookings is 5.00pm on Wednesday 1st<br />
<strong>September</strong>, so please book as early as you can.<br />
