Hello Everyone, the Book Nook is now re-opened
and we look forward to seeing you all come in and
browse.
Due to health reasons and COVID-19, masks must
be worn at all times, and members no longer will sign
out books but will hand them to the volunteer who
will sign it out on your behalf. Please have your IPP
card or membership card available which has your
name on it. Also, all magazines have been removed
due to COVID protocols.
We have recently purchased new books for you to
enjoy, one of which is the new book in the Seven
Sister Series “The Missing Sister” by Lucinda Riley
which was recently published.
The book I am going to tell you about is “A
Gambling Man” by David Baldacci. Aloysius
Archer just got out of prison and plans to head to
California and make a fresh start. Along the way, he
stops in Reno where he meets Liberty Callahan, an
aspiring actress who plans to go to Hollywood to
become famous.
While in Reno, he buys a 1939 Delahaye
convertible which he can drive on this long trip,
along with Liberty who he offers a ride to. They
arrive in Bay Town, California, where Archer has
arranged to meet with P.I. Willie Dash and train with
him to become his apprentice. He lands the job with
Dash but immediately is working a blackmail case
involving a wealthy politician running for Mayor.
It seems there are others who do not want him to
become mayor and murders start taking place.
Liberty manages to find a job at a local gambling den
where one of the murders takes place, as Archer and
Dash try to find who is responsible for these murders.
There are many twists and turns in this page-turning
book, which I hope you will enjoy reading as much
as I did.

The Diabetes Support Group is a support group meeting in-person with a virtual
option at the Evergreen Community Seniors Centre.
We are welcoming new members to join us on the second and fourth Monday of the
month at 11 am in the Board Room.
This includes members who have diabetes or care for someone else who has
diabetes. We share ideas to live with diabetes and support each other. The group is
facilitated by Community Dietitian, Molly Roberts.
Consider joining us this fall on the following dates:
