Joanna recalls there were times of rapid growthwhere they were hiring new team members on a Thursdayand building desks over the weekend for a Mondaymorning start, through to times of consolidation anddefensive needs such as the GFC and more recent Covid-19.The journey has had mountains to climb, valleys and riversto cross, but overall, every day is a different landscape witha variety of issues to address from big picture strategyinitiatives to the minutia of finer details. When Joanna looksback, it is the faces of the people in Mortgage Ezy’s team,its brokers, and the tens of thousands of Australians she andher team have helped secure a better home loan that featuremost prominently.Harnessing Creativity and Vibrant EnergyBeing a younger female in a very male dominated domain,Joanna was often presumed to be the PA or BDM andspoken too dismissively on more than one occasion, due toher youthful looks. Transitioning from Architecture andbuilding into the Finance arena also brought a need forfurther training and upskilling and she would often bequestioned on her authority and experience. Luckily, shesaw this as a benefit as she set out to be anything other thana boring banking profile, and thus, she was able to harnessher creativity and vibrant energy into creating a differenttype of Company. Whilst on the job, she has learnt toovercome discrimination, fear, doubt, procrastination, andmany limiting beliefs about who she can be. Perhaps, thebiggest challenge for her was juggling a family withbusiness needs.Challenging the Status QuoJoanna believes that everyone wants to have clarity aroundwhat it is they are being asked to do, and why theircontribution is important to the bigger picture.
