Naturally, I was doing everything myself in alldepartments and doing you-name-it while running allaspects of day-to-day operations. So, the challenge initiallywas taking on too many roles and responsibilities myself. Ifyou try to do everything and spread yourself too thin, you’llsoon discover it is a recipe for failure and not for success.Shortly after getting our first few clients, I started adding tothe team. I hired a part-time marketing assistant andengaged with a knowledgeable and reputable CPA firm so Icould build the business and focus on sales. I paid closeattention to my financials and put everything back into thebusiness to build a strong enough cash position for reservesand new talent.Today, my primary focus is on our people and our clients, inthat order. One of my many gifts is developing other peopleand helping every team member reach their potential. What people, what books, what life factors haveinfluenced and impacted you?I have been influenced by so many people throughout mycareer, but it was the example of my mother, who raisedtwo children as a single parent that is the most profound. She would go on to put herself through college to earn abachelor’s degree and later become an entrepreneur herselfby starting a bookkeeping business and then working at anInternational cosmetics company where she traveled toVietnam. To this day, books continue to consume my time andattention, both audio and hardcover. Napoleon Hill’s “Thinkand Grow Rich” shaped my belief that anything is possiblewhen you apply hard work, action, and a singularity offocus on your goals. On the personal side, Americanneurosurgeon Paul Kalanathi and his memoir, “WhenBreath Becomes Air” remind me that life is finite, fragile, and can be taken away at any time. It also helps me toappreciate how blessed I am to be alive and do work I loveeach day.Being a recognized digital leader, what is your opinionregarding the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic onwww.insightssuccess.comJuly 2021 | 31
