Four teenagers with BB guns were reportedly in the woods behind the house. The group was gone before police arrived. PHOTO | OLIVIA FALCIGNO Law Enforcement Torch Run 5K returns By Anne MArie ToBin PEABODY — If you are looking to burn off those thousands of calories you devoured on Thanksgiving Day and also show some Christmas cheer, then the annual Peabody Holiday Law Enforcement Torch 5K Run is right up your alley. This year's event, which will again be hosted by the Peabody Police Department and the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) for the Special Olympics is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 5. The day will be chock full of fun-filled family events, including a special visit from Santa. The day kicks off with race-day registration at 9 a.m. The Kids' Dash follows at 10:30 with the main event, the 5K run, along with the 1K alternative for walkers, beginning at 11. An awards ceremony will follow at approximately 11:30. The race begins and ends at the Analogic Corporation, 8 Centennial Drive in Peabody and, once again, will be capped by the popular "Taste of the Town" event from 11:30-12:30. Nearly 30 different food vendors from Peabody and surrounding cities and towns are expected to treat the participants to a delicious post-race feast of pizza, pasta, chicken wings, sandwiches, pulled pork, steak, mac-andcheese, and for the health-conscious, fruits and veggies. Non-race participants are welcome to attend. A $10 donation can be made onsite to help benefit the cause and punch your ticket to the fabulous feast. As of this past weekend, the race had raised more than $15,000 with 75 contributing participants and eight teams. To register for the race, please visit https://specialolympicsma. donordrive.com.
