SIX NATIONS ROUND UP<br />

After two rounds of the Guinness Six<br />

Nations, only France remain unbeaten,<br />

having defeated Ireland 30-24 last Saturday<br />

in a thrilling game in the French capital,<br />

holding off Ireland’s second half fight back<br />

to claim the win. With France on 9 points,<br />

Ireland sit in third place in the table on 6<br />

points, with England also on 6 points but<br />

nudging ahead on points difference.<br />

Saturday’s game was a special milestone<br />

in the career of Joey Carbery, who made<br />

his first ever start in the Six Nations,<br />

kicking three conversions and a penalty<br />

in an assured performance. His <strong>Munster</strong><br />

teammates Tadhg Beirne and Andrew<br />

Conway were also on the starting team,<br />

with Conor Murray and Peter O’Mahony<br />

coming off the bench in the second half.<br />

In the opening match against Wales at<br />

Aviva Stadium, Andrew Conway scored a<br />

brace of tries while Peter O’Mahony came<br />

off the bench to win his 80th international<br />

cap in Ireland’s 29-7 win.<br />

In other Six Nations news, tickets for the<br />

TikTok Women’s Six Nations went on sale<br />

on Ticketmaster earlier this week. The Irish<br />

Women’s team will play their fixture against<br />

Italy at Musgrave Park on Sunday April 10<br />

at 5pm with tickets available HERE.<br />

It was recently announced that Waterford<br />

woman and former Irish captain Niamh<br />

Briggs has joined Greg McWilliams’<br />

coaching team as Assistant Coach for the<br />

series. Briggs most recently played a key<br />

role in <strong>Munster</strong>’s Vodafone Women’s Inter-<br />

Provincial success as Assistant Coach and<br />

has continued her coaching development<br />

as head coach of UL Bohemians.<br />

Ireland’s preparations for the Six Nations<br />

continues, with 41 players recently taking<br />

part in a three-day screening camp at the<br />

HPC. The group included Chloe Pearse,<br />

Ciara O’Halloran, Alana McInerney, Eimear<br />

Considine, Enya Breen and Nicole Cronin<br />

(all UL Bohemian RFC).<br />
