Dog happiness in the Harz Mountains
The Oberharz lets dogs‘ hearts beat faster!
Beautiful lakes and miles long hikes lead your
four-legged companion through the Harz landscape
and offer many an adventure.
Not only nature, but also the hosts welcome dogs,
with pet-friendly accommodation that is designed for
the needs of guests and dogs alike. The walks around
the ponds of the Oberharz will be particularly en-
joyable: Here your companion can cool off in a variety
of ways in the water. Dogs are allowed to take
a bath in almost all ponds in the Oberharz,
except in those providing drinking water (Fortuner
Teich, Hirschler Teich and Kellerhalsteiche).
Please respect the general obligation for dogs to be
kept on a leash in the National Park from April 1st
to July 15th to protect wild animals.
Motorcycling
The Oberharz is a popular region for motorcyclists
due to varied and sometimes even demanding
route sections. On your tour you will experience
winding mountain and country roads with fantastic
views of the picturesque landscape.
Well-connected motorways make the journey to
the Harz easy and straightforward.
Make a pit stop and enjoy refreshments with likeminded
people, for example in the snack bars “Biker
Treff Okertalsperre” and “Biker Treff Torfhaus‘‘.
You can obtain maps with tour suggestions
and information on biker meet ups and accommodation
from the tourist information
offices.
