System Handbook for an STC UTC System 666/HE/16940/000
faulty, to force a stage during a green wave or for traffic engineering
reasons. The System allows a maximum of two (or eight) demand
dependent stages per controller and the "n" is used to indicate the stage
letter. The "Dn" bits can form part of a plan or can be set by operator
command.
(4) Part time signals - SL
The "SL" control bit is used to switch part time signals on or off and the
"OL" reply bit to confirm that this has happened. The facility is available
through the timetable or by operator command.
The System allows the sense of the "SL" bit to be configured for each
junction such that one junction may use SL set to 1 to switch the signals and
another use 0.
(5) Solar Switch Override - SO
The "SO" control bit is used to switch all the signal aspects at a junction
from the dim state (normal during the day) to the bright state. This is
normally used during bright sunlight to make them more visible. The
facility is available through timetable, CAST or operator command.
(6) Local Link inhibiting - LL
The "LL" control bit is used to modify the operation of a junction that is not
currently controlled. Normally it forces the junction controller from its
normal off-line mode to the vehicle-actuated mode. It is available by
timetable or operator command.
(7) Synchronise Controller time - TS
The "TS" control bit allows the System to synchronise the real time clocks
of all suitably equipped MCE 0141 controllers, thus ensuring that coordination
is maintained when the System is off-line. At a pre-defined time
the bit is cycled through a "101" sequence by the System, and those
controllers with this facility set their internal clocks to the pre-defined time
on the leading edge of the second "1". This action is confirmed with the
"CS" reply bit. The pre-defined times are configured for each junction
individually.
An additional facility can be configured for each controller such that the
number of seconds' reply of the TS bit determines the day-of-week in the
controller's internal clock.
(8) Fallback Mode - FM
This facility causes the "FM" control bit to be sent that allows the CLF
mode of a controller to be disabled such that it works in VA mode when no
control bits are being sent. It can be set by timetable of operator command.
The controller may be configured so that the "FM" bit selects any of the
fallback modes.
(9) Synchronise Group Timers - SG
