that title. “Our customers have a high level of trust in
us and it’s because of the care our employees provide.
Our salespeople aren’t paid on commission so that they
are able to focus on the customer. The other thing we
do really well is the follow up. If there is a problem, we
are quick to respond and take care of the problem. We
are no nonsense about it and we get to the resolution as
quickly as possible so that we can get the customer on
their way again. We have customers from hours away
that may pass several stores along the way to buy the
same product that they could have purchased from our
competitors that are miles from their home. That’s directly
related to the trust that people have developed in
us and a great reputation.”
With six Nova dry kilns, total kiln capacity is 180,000
board feet with a target moisture content of six to seven
percent. Keim also operates automated state-of-the-art
scanning and defecting equipment from Eagle Machinery,
Mereene-Johnson rip saws, Doucet clamp carriers,
seven Weinig moulders, four Costa planer/sanders and
three CMS plus one Anderson CNC router.

offered, “Here at Keim we carry an average inventory
of 2.5 million board feet of kiln-dried lumber with 60,000
square-feet of warehousing space dedicated to Hardwoods.
We stock a vast selection of Hardwoods including
rare items for our customer’s unique needs.”
Taking us through the purchasing and production process
Troyer explained, “When we are drying Poplar lumber,
we’re very conscious of maintaining the color quality
and we have special timing arrangements in place
with our vendors to maximize this. During the summer
months the sawmills will start cutting Poplar on Monday
and we’ll have it in our kilns by Friday. This is very important
to maximize the color quality. All of our Walnut
is bought green on a 90/90 Oak grading rule spec. We
don’t steam Walnut, which allows it to stay the dark consistent
color that it’s known for. Hard Maple is bought

and sanding all support our main product line of custom
