John is a time served and valued employee of
E&S Motors Ltd who is retiring at the ripe age of
71, after almost 16 years with E&S, but a lifetime
of service within the motor industry.
John’s first job whilst still at school was serving petrol at
a local garage at the young age of 15; he never forgot
the time when the owner took him for a blast in a brand
new E Type at full pelt down the motorway, after which John
remained in the motor trade for the next 56 years. John
joined that same garage as a trainee mechanic after leaving
school. Cars were very different back then, he worked on Ford
Cortina’s, Anglia’s, Triumphs, Austin’s, Jaguars, etc.
After various positions in the industry, he joined Keith Lowey
at Davis Motors as a part time controller for 18 months and it
was this position that introduced him to the recovery industry
in which he stayed in the latter half of his career. John moved
from the part time controller and part time auto electrical
sales positions to a full time controllers job with Fred at MMS.
Full time is probably an understatement as John and one
other controller near enough covered 24/7 between them at
the start of his time at MMS! John left MMS after two years to
join E&S Motors Ltd on 7th February 2007, as a full time night
Controller where he remained for almost 16 years as one of
their most diligent and reliable members of staff. John has said
that he may have had the odd disagreement with Adam, the
owner of E&S, over the years, but has always respected him as
a fair man who has treated him with respect.
Whilst working for E&S, John was never late for work and
only absent a total of four nights; one due to extremely bad
weather when he was effectively snowed in, one due to
bereavement, and two due to sickness. Bear in mind that
John commuted from the wrong side of Telford to Walsall on
a daily basis! John is retiring from E&S as their stalwort night
controller where he is near enough a part of the furniture.
E&S Motors Ltd would like to thank John for his many years of
dedication and we wish him the very best for the future.
