Memoriam
As ever, the MSA GB’s Annual Report
is a point at which we pause and
remember those members and
friends we have lost in the past 12
months, and grieve for their passing.
We send our heartfelt condolences to
their family and friends.
One special member whose death
came during the period covered by
this report is Geoff Little. Geoff, who
passed away in February 2022, aged
74, was one of the foundation stones
on which much of this association’s
work was built.
He became chair of the West
Midlands region in 1990 and held that
post until his death.
In 1995 he became the association’s
national deputy chairman, faithfully
supporting the work of Peter Harvey
through good times and bad.
Geoff was a hugely likeable man,
someone of great good humour and

boundless commonsense.
He was dedicated to
improving road safety
through exceptional driver
training, and his school, in
Bedworth, became a byword
for excellence.
Geoff was a well-known figure
within driver training and testing
outside the confines of MSA GB. He
attended countless meetings over
the years with the DSA/DVSA, and
was a leading light of the Institute of
Master Tutors of Driving (IMTD).
He joined the IMTD in 1996 and
had spells as vice chair and chairman
before being made President in 2011,
a role he held until 2021.
In 2018 he was made an Honorary
Life Fellow, and in September of last
year, in what turned out to be his
last appearance at an event with his
fellow driver trainers, he received a
Geoff Little
Lifetime Achievement Award.
He loved chatting to
people and learning their
stories – Geoff was very
much a people-person. At
conference he loved nothing
better than to pass the time
away with his fellow ADIs, sharing a
laugh and a joke about the profession
over a beer and crafty cigarette.
My abiding memory is Geoff is of
a cheerful, resolute and honest man
who would always go the extra yard
for his fellow ADIs.
He was devoted to the MSA GB and
there are countless instructors and
members out there who benefitted
from his advice and guidance.
Above all he was a thoroughly
decent man, and it was a privilege to
have known him.
