Thirteen spacious rooms are spread over three levels

and range from standard to master suite. The walls

have a finish called chukum, a natural material which

is obtained from the resin that contains the bark of the

Havardia Albicans tree, it is mainly found in the area of

the Yucatan Peninsula. The Maya used it formerly to

produce stucco and as a coating water tanks to prevent it

from filtering water.

Enjoy a pleasant view of the garden while in the pool

or the cool spaces of the restaurant and lounge bar.

Breakfast is fresh, healthy and hacienda-like parlor with

museum quality pieces of art and furniture makes a

perfect setting for an afternoon happy hour.

Namron Hospitality Sets Precedent

New Horizons Unveil with Opening of

La Valise San Miguel, XELA, UMI, VESICA & more

It takes a vision to disrupt and restructure an antiquated

concept into a contemporary scene that offers a bespoke

sensory experience. Namron Hospitality, spanning an

array of boutique hotels and restaurants across Mexico,

has managed to fill the void for the curious and avant-

garde travelers looking for an experience beyond the

ordinary. And just like that, the fantasy world of the

hospitality group founder Yves Naman unveils four new

properties: La Valise San Miguel, Vesica Tulum, XELA,

and UMI.

Self-taught hospitality aficionado Naman was always

looking for places that offered more than just an

impressive reception space across his travels. Instead,

he was looking for the focus to be within the

accommodations. It was in 2005 that he put up his own

home in the neighborhood of Roma Norte in Mexico

City as the world’s first (and smallest) boutique hotel

with just three suites, one per floor. Decked out with

chic and stylish Mexican design, he outfitted the spaces

as if a home of a bohemian art collector with antique

furniture, fascinating objets d’art, and unique

craftsmanship. The piece de resistance of the space

became its Terraza Suite, a rooftop nook with a rolling

bed that extends from the indoor space directly onto the

terrace. Guests flocked from all around the world and fell

in love with the capital, just like Naman once had, but

more than anything, they came here to feel at home. This

is when La Valises’ “As Unique As Our Guests” slogan

was coined.

La Valise would then expand to two new destinations,

La Valise Tulum and La Valise San Miguel. The latter

was opened earlier this fall 2022, spanning six exclusive

suites in a design space by famous Mexican-Italian artist

Pedro Friedeberg. Its rooms are sanctuaries of comfort

and leisure, appointed with tender design and expansive

spa-style bathrooms, each featuring a tin of its own for

ultimate relaxation.

26

La Valise Tulum

La Valise Tulum was first launched as an 11-room,

Robinson Crusoe-style villa on the azure Tulum

beachfront. Its rooms are treasure chests of artisanry

featuring pieces from the Yucatan as well as across

Mexico. In 2022, it expanded with 11 additional suites

located across the street in the Mayan jungle, where they

sit nestled around an ancient cenote. The expansion has

also allowed for the inauguration of the La Valise Spa,

a tranquil space that encloses the wellness values of the

brand under one jungle roof. This specific property has

received praise from international media outlets, including

Forbes, Conde Nast Traveller, Travel & Leisure, etc.

27

TULUM: NEST

Encantada and Radhoo

Having become a staple in Tulum, Namron Hospitality

quickly expanded with NEST, Encantada, and Radhoo.

Each unlike the other, the spaces are true tropical

dreamlands that lend a hand to the thoughtful style of

the hospitality group. NEST is one of the original

properties on Tulum Beach. It is a magical setting for an

authentic experience elevated by original architecture

and exceptional service in an intimate native beach

setting. The minimalist design and culture at NEST are

an ode to the region’s deep-rooted history.

NEST hotel

Encantada hotel

Encantada is comprised of just eight rooms nestled

along a quiet strip of Tulum Beach with views of the

Caribbean Sea and jungle gardens. With fierce

opposition to the traditional hotel model, the staff

here invest in the smallest of details, creating bonds

with returning guests.

Finally, Radhoo feels like the vibrant heartbeat of the

Mayan Biosphere, just steps away from Tulum’s main

strip.

Its collection of 14 unique rooms embodies Tulum’s

bohemian character and jungle sensuality, with an

added touch of exotic luxury and comfort. Both sultry

and serene, the Radhoo property resonates with an

ancient spirit of place that inspires one to enjoy the

full abundance of life. Each property’s aesthetic

elements done them one of the most popular wedding

destinations in the region, having been featured in

Vogue magazine amongst others.

28

At the Heart of the Caribbean

VESICA, UMI and XELA

Tulum is privy to unique and precious nature, a true

tropical paradise. Not only does Namron Hospitality

integrate sustainability practices across the board, but it

also encourages guests and neighboring businesses to do

so as well through its “Tulum Pledge.” Focusing on all

the essential details, it has become a cocoon of Tulum

culture ranging from painting at its Saturday art classes to

its musical curation with XERI Collective, artisanal craft

at La Valise Store and so much more. Each effort is one to

connect and collect community.

Radhoo hotel

Vesica

VESICA is Tulum’s social sanctuary cenote that boasts

leisurely spaces, gastronomy, wellness, etc. around an

ancient cenote. Its entryway is guided by a portal,

featuring day passes and memberships, for like-minded

people to gather away from the beach in the heart of the

jungle. The unique space has recently joined Namron

Hospitality’s roster as one of its cultural centers.

UMI and XELA are the newest projects for the group,

opening in winter 2023, with unique concepts that

further communicate the brand manifesto. XELA is a

soulful retreat for travelers, wanderers, sojourners, and

29

like-minded spirits deep in the heart of the Mexican

Caribbean. Like a private villa on the seashore, it hosts

an atmosphere of comfort, seclusion, and relaxation.

“Umi” means sea in Japanese— rightfully taking its

place on the front row of Tulum beach and its azure

Caribbean Sea. To enter UMI is to be embraced by

wood, water, and stone and breathe in a great deal of

tropical serenity of a coveted place that within it hosts

energy of exclusivity. It is the place to see and be seen,

especially at its private events and high-brow fêtes.

Gastronomy: Food for the Soul

VESICA, UMI and XELA

NÜ is Namron Hospitality’s standalone dinner-only

culinary proposal wedged into the jungle on Tulum

Road. Focused on slow-cooking and endemic dishes,

NÜ sources organic ingredients from the Yucatan with

Mestiza de Indias. Each of their proposals redefines the

regional relationship with food by exploring endemic

vegetables and preparing them directly in wood-fired

ovens.

30

NEST also boasts a beachfront restaurant of its

own, open to both guests and the public, that

works in joint with NÜ. It serves international and

Mexican beachside delicacies with a twist, utilizing

all organic ingredients. NEST’s Livingroom

restaurant serves Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.

As Namron Hospitality consciously expands, it paves

the way for small boutique hotels to create places with

meaning. “I look forward to discovering different nooks

around Mexico and internationally and creating

unprecedented boutique hotels where people truly feel

at home,” says Yves Naman. His vision includes new

properties across Mexican coastlines, as well as within its

magical cities. In each place, he vows to uphold the values

of the brand through sustainability and artisanality,

focusing on conscious travel locally-inclusive properties.
