and the bronze medal in the Fantasy category - for a unique mix of lime and

Three Museums: Uxmal, Valladolid, Playa del Carmen
Three Unique and Different Experiences
Choco-Story Uxmal was the first one to open its doors, it is located in the
former Hacienda Uxmal, 40 min from the city of Mérida right at the entrance
to Uxmal Archaeological site.
Choco-Story Uxmal is an interactive museum. It places its visitors as
protagonists, moving away from all conventionality. Each of 6 permanent
rooms represents an important aspect in the history of cocoa, a timeline from
fruit to chocolate today.
The tour includes a tasting of Chokoj Ha, a traditional Mayan drink based on
cocoa and made at the moment with rich spices and a ceremony in honor of the
Mayan Rain God Chac.
On the museum journey, a tour takes visitors through lush botanical gardens
with cocoa trees, an UMA animal shelter, with endemic fauna that has been rescued,
a stingless bee meliponario and a kids’ playground. You can even become
a chocolatier for a day!

antigua Hacienda Uxmal, a 40 min de la ciudad de Mérida justo en la entrada al
sitio arqueológico de Uxmal.
Choco-Story Uxmal es un museo interactivo. Sitúa a sus visitantes como

permanentes representa un aspecto importante en la historia del cacao, una
línea de tiempo desde la fruta hasta el chocolate en la actualidad.

Celestún is another fishing
town just north of the border with the
state of Campeche with white sand
beaches and turquoise waters, and is
famous for its flamingo watching tours
in the Ría Celestún Biosphere Reserve.
The town has been producing a highly
prized salt since antiquity and is very
popular during octopus fishing season
which brings many visitors.

In winter the Ría Celestún Biosphere
Reserve becomes home to thousands
of flamingos. Watching them in their
natural habitat is possible in guided
tours in flat bottom boats that go out
into the Ría, which was declared a
wildlife refuge in 1979.

DESTINATIONS
Sisal is located 53 km to the northwest of Mérida and
was the first commercial port of Yucatan during the
henequen boom. It is so nice and tranquil, that it creates a
feeling of being on an island. Most restaurants are right at
the pier and serve very fresh local seafood. There is a nearby
cenote called El Palmar and mangroves for birdwatchers and
nature lovers.

puerto comercial de Yucatán durante el auge del henequén.

Tequila, Jalisco was founded
in the 1500s. Located just 60 km away from
Guadalajara, it is a “pueblo mágico” that
charms its visitors with an aroma of baked
agave hearts, history of tequila making and
hearty and flavorful birria, complemented by
the annual average temperature of 23C.
Blue agave fields at the foot of the volcano of
Tequila surround old haciendas and many
distilleries, many of which were founded in
the second half of the XVIII century. The
National Tequila Fair takes place November
and December.

that starts with a jimador cutting the leaves of agave with
a “coa de jima” tool, then “piñas” which are split in halves
are taken to the ovens for a slow and long baking process.
