Celestún is another fishing<br />
town just north of the border with the<br />
state of Campeche with white sand<br />
beaches and turquoise waters, and is<br />
famous for its flamingo watching tours<br />
in the Ría Celestún Biosphere Reserve.<br />
The town has been producing a highly<br />
prized salt since antiquity and is very<br />
popular during octopus fishing season<br />
which brings many visitors.<br />

al norte de la frontera con el estado de<br />
Campeche con playas de arena blanca<br />
y aguas turquesas, y es famoso por sus<br />
tours de observación de flamencos en la<br />
Reserva de la Biosfera Ría Celestún. La<br />
ciudad produce una sal muy apreciada<br />
desde la antigüedad y es muy popular<br />
durante la temporada de pesca del<br />

In winter the Ría Celestún Biosphere<br />
Reserve becomes home to thousands<br />
of flamingos. Watching them in their<br />
natural habitat is possible in guided<br />
tours in flat bottom boats that go out<br />
into the Ría, which was declared a<br />
wildlife refuge in 1979.<br />
