Warm weather, the smell of grass being cut and the flowers in bloom, blue skies, no winter coats, longer days, lots of sunshine, more wildlife out and about, and most important to me… more excuses to have ice cream!! I want to start off with a friendly reminder about our Annual General Meeting (AGM) which is scheduled for Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at the Evergreen Seniors Community Centre auditorium. Doors open at 1:00 pm followed by the meeting at 1:30 pm. We would love to see you!! One of my favourite parts of the AGM is hearing about the Year in Review and the Path Forward. When you hear, upon reflection, the many things that we have collectively done as an association/organization, it becomes clear how important the GWSA is to us and to the communities we reach and serve. It’s time again, in June, to celebrate Seniors Month in Ontario! We get the opportunity to recognize the contributions made in communities across the province. Thank you to each and every one of you that contribute to making the world a better place! A reminder that we don’t close in the summer!! For example, the Travel Committee has some awesome adventures coming up! Check out the “Grand River Cruise” coming up in July! I read that you start your day with the fabulous “Blazing Fiddles” show in the auditorium and will also embark on a 2-1/2 hour cruise with a delicious, hot home style meal served to your private tables. There is also “A Day in The Country” planned. I read that you start your day at Whistling Garden in Wilsonville. After lunch, you will visit Bonnieheath Estate Winery and Lavender Farm. You get to experience the gardens, the gift shop and the option of tasting their wine and cider products. I look forward to hearing feedback from these adventures from our Board Director of the Travel Committee, Yvonne Thomas.
