This is Reading Street’s fourth<br />

open garden event. Gardens range<br />

from a small cottage garden to<br />

an award-winning wildlife one,<br />

a fairy garden for the little ones<br />

and Taddy’s Allotments. All<br />

gardens are within 5-10 minutes<br />

walk from St Andrew’s Church.<br />

There will be plants and produce<br />

sales. Refreshments and lunches<br />

will also be available in the<br />

Community Hall to eat in or take<br />

away. Tickets are available from<br />

various points in the village.<br />

This summer the Sussex Guild<br />

returns to exhibit inspiring work<br />

in a village of small marquees<br />

on the lawns of the Azalea Ring<br />

at Borde Hill. Visitors will be<br />

treated to spectacular examples of<br />

ceramics, furniture, glass, jewellery,<br />

metalwork, textile art, woodwork<br />

and more; most of which<br />

can be purchased or specially<br />

commissioned. Some makers will<br />

be demonstrating, giving visitors<br />

the chance to see the well-honed<br />

skills in making high-end crafts.<br />

Visitors are encouraged to prebook<br />

their visit in advance and by<br />

booking at least a day in advance<br />

annual event run by Smarden<br />

to sample and buy has grown<br />

dramatically. It’s a day out for<br />

the whole family with children’s<br />

activities, a barbecue, a beer<br />

and prosecco bar, strawberries<br />

and cream and a great band.<br />
