A Tonbridge School team has come ‘Top in the
World’ in the Trinity Maths Competition, an annual
online contest which tests students’ problem-solving abilities
under time pressure. More than 150 teams from leading schools
across the world, including those in China, the US and the UK,
took part but Tonbridge team ‘e = pi = 3’, made up of students Isaac,
Hayden, Alex, Catalin, Justin and Sam, finished in first place in the
entire world. A second Tonbridge team, ‘39 is prime’, also did
extremely well, achieving 21st place in the world rankings.
James Ashton, Head of Maths, says, “By any measure, this is
a remarkable achievement. The second and third places
went to prestigious Maths schools in the US, and so
this result confirms Tonbridge’s reputation as one
The
of the finest schools for Maths in the country
and, quite possibly, in the world.”
It’s been an incredible year so far at
The Granville School in Sevenoaks (co-ed
for ages 4-11). Thanks to the hard work of the PE
department, expertly led by Natalie Rendle, and the
girls themselves of course, this small school of around 170
pupils has placed 3rd nationally in Cross Country, competed at
the IAPS U11 National Netball finals (1 of only 24 schools to
qualify) and were runners up in the National Netball Bowl
Competition. They also placed 4th in the South-East in
Hockey and will be swimming in the IAPS National
Championships in June at the London Aquatic
