championship followinganemphatic<br />

31­26 victory over Kaiapoi at Southbrook<br />

Park last Saturday.<br />

It was afeastofsenior rugby at<br />

SouthbrookwithSuper Saturday<br />

featuring all <strong>North</strong> <strong>Canterbury</strong> senior<br />

sides.<br />

Ashleycamefrombehindinthe final<br />

quartertoheadoff Ohoka 28­23, while<br />

Hurunui produced acommanding<br />

performance in beatingOxford 34­12.<br />

Saracens left its bestuntil last,easily<br />

accountingfor Woodend57­17.<br />

In spite of thegloomy conditions, the<br />

rain stayed awayand largecrowds were<br />

on hand to witness afirst in localrugby,<br />

with allsenior teams playing at theone<br />

venue.<br />

It was aday thatalso acted as<br />

fundraiserfor therepresentative team’s<br />

trip to Japan.<br />

competitive playbefore Ashley finally<br />

broke theOhokaline of defence and<br />

scoredatry, which was converted.<br />

In the 27th and31stOhoka wasawarded<br />

late in thefirst half, both successfully<br />
