Wheel Throwing
In this intermediate and advanced class, the focus will
be serving vessels. Each week we will discuss strategies
and techniques to create forms such as pitchers, platters,
and casserole dishes.
Firing and glazes included. Clay must be purchased
at the Art Center ($25 per 25lb). Basic ceramic tool kit
required (available at class for $15).

Intermediate Wheel Projects with
Miki Shim
Work with Miki in this intermediate to advanced wheel
class to continue your studio practice. Students will
receive hands-on instruction to develop individualized
expression of form and design, fine-tune their throwing
skills and expand their knowledge of ceramics processes.
Projects will include functional and decorative
vessels thrown on the wheel and will include altered
forms and combine hand-built elements. Independent
projects ideas are welcome and will receive instruction
as needed.
This is an intermediate and advanced level class. Prior
wheel sessions required. Students must be able to center
and pull even walls.

Wheel Throwing with
Danny Sheu
We will start this class with the fundamentals of
wheel-thrown pottery. Beginning students will learn
how to center clay and create basic forms, as well as
trimming, finishing and glazing. Once the foundations
are taught, students of all levels will learn from the
instructor’s demonstrations and individualized guidance
and assistance so that each student can develop their
personal direction and style. This class is appropriate for
beginners and advanced students.

Hand Building with
Hsin-Chuen Lin
This course focuses on hand building. Hsin will
demonstrate and teach one project per week based
on slab build techniques. We are making Sushi plates,
pencil holders, Ikebana vessels, pitchers, and baskets,
with additional attention given to texture and sgraffito
decoration. Advanced students will learn from instructor
demonstrations and will receive individual attention on
independent projects.
