Ceramics with Gary Clarien
This class will address wheel throwing and hand
building. Additionally, surface treatments will be
emphasized. This class will also cover a variety of
techniques as well as glazing and firing. All levels of
experience welcome. Advanced students will learn from
instructor demonstrations and will receive individual
attention on independent projects.
Firing and glazes included. Clay must be purchased
at the Art Center ($25 per 25lb). Basic ceramic tool kit
required (available at class for $15).

Ceramics Drop-In Pass
This pass allows students enrolled in instructed
ceramics classes to use the studio this quarter anytime
during the open studio drop-in hours for a flat fee.
Day passes are available for students who prefer not to
get the quarterly unlimited Drop-In Pass. Day passes are
$12 for Palo Alto residents and $14 for non-residents.
Pass NOT required for Self-Directed Projects students.
YOU MUST BE ENROLLED IN CERAMICS IN ORDER TO
USE THIS PASS.

Open to students enrolled in fall 2023 ceramics classes
only. This extension allows access to the studio during
studio hours for a flat fee. Finish up your projects or
make a few more.
Please note: Wares made during extension will NOT be
done in time for the holidays.

Self Directed Ceramics Projects
This course is for advanced ceramics students who have
taken at least two previous ceramics classes at the Palo
Alto Art Center* and want to access the studio during
open studio drop-in hours for the entire session for a flat
fee. Only work made in the PAAC studios will be fired.
*No exceptions made to two-class prerequisite.
Firing and glazes included. Clay must be purchased at
the Art Center ($25 per 25lb).

Ceramics Firing Service
Firing Service is exclusively for students who
participated in the Art Center’s Curbside Program.
Online enrollment is no longer available. To enroll email
fanny.retsek@cityofpaloalto.org or call (650) 617-3525.
Participants must drop-off and pick-up their wares in the
Art Center Ceramics studio during drop-in hours (see
receipt for hours). Participants must appropriately
shelve all wares to be fired.
Take-home glazes are no longer included. However,
participants may glaze during drop-in hours (included in
firing service fee) or can purchase for $10/pint.
