Ceramics with Gary Clarien<br />

This class will address wheel throwing and hand<br />

building. Additionally, surface treatments will be<br />

emphasized. This class will also cover a variety of<br />

techniques as well as glazing and firing. All levels of<br />

experience welcome. Advanced students will learn from<br />

instructor demonstrations and will receive individual<br />

attention on independent projects.<br />

Firing and glazes included. Clay must be purchased<br />

at the Art Center ($25 per 25lb). Basic ceramic tool kit<br />

required (available at class for $15).<br />

Ceramics Drop-In Pass<br />

This pass allows students enrolled in instructed<br />

ceramics classes to use the studio this quarter anytime<br />

during the open studio drop-in hours for a flat fee.<br />

Day passes are available for students who prefer not to<br />

get the quarterly unlimited Drop-In Pass. Day passes are<br />

$12 for Palo Alto residents and $14 for non-residents.<br />

Pass NOT required for Self-Directed Projects students.<br />

done in time for the holidays.<br />

Self Directed Ceramics Projects<br />

This course is for advanced ceramics students who have<br />

taken at least two previous ceramics classes at the Palo<br />

Alto Art Center* and want to access the studio during<br />

open studio drop-in hours for the entire session for a flat<br />

fee. Only work made in the PAAC studios will be fired.<br />

*No exceptions made to two-class prerequisite.<br />

Firing and glazes included. Clay must be purchased at<br />

the Art Center ($25 per 25lb).<br />

Ceramics Firing Service<br />

Firing Service is exclusively for students who<br />

participated in the Art Center’s Curbside Program.<br />

Online enrollment is no longer available. To enroll email<br />

fanny.retsek@cityofpaloalto.org or call (650) 617-3525.<br />

Participants must drop-off and pick-up their wares in the<br />

Art Center Ceramics studio during drop-in hours (see<br />

receipt for hours). Participants must appropriately<br />

shelve all wares to be fired.<br />

Take-home glazes are no longer included. However,<br />

participants may glaze during drop-in hours (included in<br />

firing service fee) or can purchase for $10/pint.
