Expressive Monotype
Monotypes are unique hand-pulled prints. The artist
applies ink to a blank plate then prints the image onto
paper with a press. Emphasis will be on “light field” and
“dark field” monotype, learning the process of studio
printmaking, and using the press. Demonstrations will
show ways to add depth, color and texture to prints.
Each class will provide different opportunities to explore
and refine your ideas with the help of an experienced
printmaker. Beginners welcome.

Printmaking Explorations
This class will offer a variety of printmaking techniques
to engage students in the magical world of printmaking,
using safer practices and less toxic materials and
methods. Throughout the course, we’ll explore block
printing (relief), silkscreen, and lithography. Each class
will have instruction and studio time for students to
pursue their individual interests. No experience
necessary, the only requirement is enthusiasm!
Experienced printmakers welcome.

Drypoint
Drypoint is an intaglio printmaking technique using a
small plastic plate, print paper, etching ink, and a
hand-pulled printing press. The plate is hand-drawn
with a sharp tool, creating lines and tone. In each class
we will learn the basics of intaglio-style inking and
printing as well as how to add color to the image. Focus
will be completing a small cohesive edition. No
experience necessary.
Materials fee of $50 due at first class includes most
supplies.

Monotype with Chine Collé
In this two-day workshop with printmaker Susanne
Smith, make and color your own chine collé paper (thin
collage papers) for monotype printmaking; learn to print
with added papers and found papers. Oil-bases inks will
be used, or bring your own preferred ink.
Solvent free cleanup.
$20 material fee.
