Graffiti has come a long way. What was
started by youth as an exploration of self in
a social environment that didn't seem to
care if they were there, has led to becoming
a global voice, practiced by many, and
heard by many more. Graffiti is everywhere.
In every free country and city, and probably
even in those that are not. Spreading like a
pandemic, contracting graffiti is not
life-threatening and is much more fun. It is
a part of the human condition, like a web
that weaves the fabric of society together,
regardless of socio-economic status, language,
location, education, or gender. To do
graffiti you just need an idea, and from
there you can transport it onto paper, walls,
streets, yards, or even your tablet.
The Montana LOOKBOOK is a homage
to this way of life we call graffiti. All the
people who practice it in every form, and to
those who give it a little something of their
soul that makes it unique and exciting year
after year. Montana Cans is proud to be
part of that journey. With every event we
support, whether it be for the kids down at
the local hall of fame, that gathering in the
national graffiti spotlight, or those grand
happenings that unite the world's best,
making history for generations to come.
Montana Cans celebrates how our culture
is continuously moving forward. We are
grateful for every artist that chooses our
brand, every event that values partnership
with us, every store that stocks our products,
and every person that reaches for a
Montana Cans product in the store in a
world full of choices. They are all one of us,
as we are one of them. A global family
connected by color.
In 2022, the Montana BLACK Limited
Edition Artist Series cans took it to another
level. This time taking the shine were some
of the Kings and Queens of the game, like
HOW & NOSM, and LAIA who gave their
chosen color from the Montana BLACK
range and gave it their personal touch. In
our Montana BLOG "Introducing" and "Interview"
series, we delved deeper into the
artistic practice of world-level artists like
ROIDS of the MSK crew, who continuously
reinvents what contemporary graffiti is
today, and Swedish artist Max Solca, who
knows exactly how to communicate to the
graffiti community and the general public
at the same time while making everyone
laugh in the process.
In the material world, we created lots
of cool new merch and collaborations
fulfilling the needs of any graffiti collector
or fan with products and articles that both
function and look good. We even collaborated
in the digital space offering the exciting
new freebie "World of Colors", for Procreate.
Even this LOOKBOOK that you have
in your hand is another deserving piece of
documented history that will earn a special
place on your bookshelf for years to come.
Let's focus on the good things in life
that we create, that fulfill us, and make our
world a more colorful place to live. Within
these two covers, we have tried to offer you
a small selection of BIG things that made
2022 great and will inspire us to make 2023
and beyond even more inspiring.
