Can you believe it’s <strong>September</strong>? The summer is going<br />
by way too fast! It sure is good to feel warm though!<br />
Like many of you, I will be glad when the construction<br />
is all finished in the area. Having said that, I tend to<br />
complain when the roads are bad and then I tend to<br />
complain when they are fixing them! DOH!<br />
My last “Message From The GWSA Board” was<br />
distributed prior to our Annual General Meeting (AGM).<br />
I want to step back for a moment and thank all those who<br />
attended. Further, I want to take this opportunity to<br />
highlight a couple of things that President Pat mentioned<br />
for those that were unable to attend and/or did not receive<br />
a copy of the Annual Report. As follows:<br />
• It was important to acknowledge that the City of<br />
Guelph has provided ongoing support to our<br />
Association, and we have worked closely with them to<br />
initiate new programs, services, and equipment to the<br />
Evergreen Centre.<br />
• The GWSA Board expressed deep appreciation to the<br />
volunteers who serve on GWSA Committees and as<br />
Activity Group Leaders. You have offered outstanding<br />
programming and have been instrumental in getting<br />
members back to activities with their friends.<br />
• We received a notable number of grants which<br />
required significant effort to prepare.<br />
• We noted some of our successful programs/initiatives<br />
like Dancing at the Evergreen or our new Welcome<br />
Desk in the Foyer, the reopening of the Treasure Chest<br />
which was a partnership with the City of Guelph and<br />
the GWSA.<br />
• Finally, Board members delegated Council on the<br />
