Can you believe it’s September? The summer is going
by way too fast! It sure is good to feel warm though!
Like many of you, I will be glad when the construction
is all finished in the area. Having said that, I tend to
complain when the roads are bad and then I tend to
complain when they are fixing them! DOH!
My last “Message From The GWSA Board” was
distributed prior to our Annual General Meeting (AGM).
I want to step back for a moment and thank all those who
attended. Further, I want to take this opportunity to
highlight a couple of things that President Pat mentioned
for those that were unable to attend and/or did not receive
a copy of the Annual Report. As follows:
• It was important to acknowledge that the City of
Guelph has provided ongoing support to our
Association, and we have worked closely with them to
initiate new programs, services, and equipment to the
Evergreen Centre.
• The GWSA Board expressed deep appreciation to the
volunteers who serve on GWSA Committees and as
Activity Group Leaders. You have offered outstanding
programming and have been instrumental in getting
members back to activities with their friends.
• We received a notable number of grants which
required significant effort to prepare.
• We noted some of our successful programs/initiatives
like Dancing at the Evergreen or our new Welcome
Desk in the Foyer, the reopening of the Treasure Chest
which was a partnership with the City of Guelph and
the GWSA.
• Finally, Board members delegated Council on the
