Lincoln High’s girls first XI<br />
conceded just two goals on<br />
their way to taking out the<br />
Gary Sowden Tournament in<br />
Blenheim last week.<br />
The young team beat Nelson<br />
College for Girls 1-0 to claim the<br />
title, and was able to avenge their<br />
Connetics premier quarter final<br />
loss with a 2-1 over Avonside<br />
Girls’ High in the semi-final.<br />
Lincoln’s unbeaten run saw<br />
the team record 23 goals from<br />
six matches at an average of just<br />
under four goals a game.<br />
Year 12 striker Denva Perrott<br />
scored an impressive 14 of her<br />
team’s goals, and as a result<br />

A narrow 5-2 loss against<br />
Nelson College for Girls saw<br />
Rolleston settle for a 15th place<br />
finish at the same tournament.<br />
Maddie Powell was awarded<br />
most valuable player for her side.<br />
Lincoln’s boys side had a<br />
promising start to the Jim<br />
Wishart Tournament in Nelson,<br />
but were unable to continue their<br />
momentum into the playoffs.<br />
Following their 5-0 loss to<br />
Papanui High, Lincoln managed<br />
a seventh place finish with a 3-1<br />
over St Bernard’s College.<br />
After recording a 2-2 draw<br />
against Garin College, Rolleston<br />
notched their first win of the<br />
Nelson tournament by defeating<br />
Nayland College 7-2 in the ninth<br />
quarter final.<br />
However, the team were unable<br />
to repeat the result in the playoff<br />
for 15th, going down 4-1 against<br />
Nayland to finish 16th.<br />
RUGBY (U15)<br />
For the first time in the school’s<br />
history, Rolleston College secured<br />
the South Island secondary<br />
schools Rural Livestock under-15<br />
rugby tournament in Alexandra<br />
last week.<br />
A try to Taika Reihana in the<br />
dying minutes of the final saw<br />
Rolleston beat St Kevin’s College<br />
24-17 to claim the title after an<br />
unbeaten run throughout the<br />
tournament.<br />
Mason Cole, Drew Scotland,<br />
Taika Reihana and Sam<br />
Wheal were all named in<br />
the tournament team after<br />
impressing for Rolleston.<br />
Lincoln finished in sixth place<br />
after going down 26-10 to South<br />
Otago in the section B final of<br />
division 1. They recorded three<br />
wins across the tournament.<br />
After recording 48 points in<br />
pool play, Darfield finished in<br />
ninth place with a comfortable<br />
54-21 win over St Andrew’s<br />
College.<br />
South Otago took out the<br />
award for best all round team at<br />
the three-day tournament.<br />
