Arucas celebrates World Tourism Day with
the 3rd Edition of its World Beer Festival.
Canary band Red Beard will be topping the bill at the 3rd World Beer Festival in Arucas, to be held on 22nd and 23rd September
to commemorate World Tourism Day 2023 in the municipality.
It has been a while since the first World
Beer Festival was held in Arucas in September
2019, as part of the commemorative
events for World Tourism Day,
with considerable success in terms of
participation and feedback from festival-goers.
Local gastronomy and music
formed the perfect bond and served as
a game changer in the promotion of restaurants
and leisure in the historic town
centre of Arucas. But then the pandemic
hit, causing the logical break over the
following two years before things got
back to normal.
So last year the Arucas Town Council
revived this project through its Department
of Economic Promotion and Tourism
in collaboration with the Arucas
Shopkeepers Association (COA for its
acronym in Spanish) and the catering
businesses in the area, emulating the
success of the first edition. This event
has become a highlight at the end of
the summer, bringing many residents of
Arucas and other municipalities together
to enjoy the local gastronomy, good
music and the charms of the city of Arucas.
The 3rd World Beer Festival comes to
Arucas on 22nd and 23rd September,
with a programme of performances together
with gastronomy, rest areas, concerts,
DJs and more than 20 varieties of
beer that can be tasted at participating
establishments.
From early afternoon on Friday 22nd,
restaurants in the area will be offering a
special dish to be sampled on tables set
up on calle León y Castillo, calle Gourié
and Plazoleta Guillermo Sureda in the
town centre, together with a special
range of beers from different countries.
The concerts will take place on Saturday
23 September, although proceedings
will begin at midday with a reading of a
manifesto for World Tourism Day in the
Plaza de la Constitución, before moving
onto the main attraction of the Canarian
southern rock group Red Beard, a band
with extensive international experience,
who have even opened for Fito y los Fitipaldis,
and the concerts that they performed
in the Canary Islands.
In the afternoon, it will be the turn for
more concerts by other Canarian bands,
including La Clave and Deep Riders,
ending with a DJ session that will close
at midnight, but of course, before that,
the gastronomic offer and the tasting of
different beers from around the world
will continue.
social media profiles of Turismo Arucas
and Arucas Mola.
World Tourism Day
Under the slogan of the World Tourism
Organization (WTO) for 2023, "Green
tourism and investment", the Mancomunidad
del Norte de Gran Canaria, the
group of municipalities in the north of
the island, is running a programme of
activities to commemorate World Tourism
Day in the northern region, which
will celebrate its big day on the 24th
of September in the municipality of
Valleseco. The institutional act and the
World Tourism Day Fair will take place
in La Laguna de Valleseco from 10:00
to 14:00 hours, with the presentation
of tourist awards for 2023, live music,
children's entertainment and tastings,
among other activities.
The Arucas Town Council, through its
Department of Economic Promotion
and Tourism, will be in attendance with
a stand during the fair, where it will promote
the attractions of the ‘municipality
of flowers’.
