Residence permit (ikamet)<br />
Foreigners who wish to stay in Turkey for more than 90 days or for a period longer than allowed<br />
by their visa, must obtain a residence permit in Turkey.<br />
The application is started via the electronic “e-residence system” after which all applicants<br />
must attend a physical meeting at the local immigration office.<br />
The rules and requirements for obtaining a resident permit change on a frequent basis and<br />
the changes are not communicated to the public in a clear and efficient way.<br />
It can therefor be very difficult for common people to understand exactly what is needed<br />
and under which requirements they can apply.
