Burnham School - Te Kura o Tiori is a<br />

semi-rural school, approximately<br />

6 kilometres south of Rolleston,<br />

previously mainly taught the children<br />

of personnel based at Burnham Military<br />

Camp. With no zone, the school<br />

welcomes all students in Years 1-8, and<br />

the roll continues to grow.<br />

The school has undergone<br />

refurbishment to transform the old<br />

classrooms into open and flexible<br />

learning environments for students. This<br />

included the addition of new decking,<br />

overhanging rooves and new signage.<br />

20% of our population onto the roads<br />

and pathways of <strong>Selwyn</strong>—all at the same<br />

time. Wheels, feet, and a whole lot of<br />

energy will be in motion.<br />

Children’s behaviour can be<br />

unpredictable, so exercising caution<br />

is paramount. Reduce your speed,<br />

especially in school zones, aiming for<br />

30kph, and exercise even greater caution<br />

around school buses, maintaining speeds<br />

of 20kph in both directions. Respect<br />

and comply with crossing patrols; their<br />

guidance ensures the safety of everyone.<br />

To alleviate traffic congestion around<br />

school gates, consider dropping back<br />

and encouraging walking for the final<br />

part of the journey. Physical activity<br />

isn’t just for the kids; it’s a boost for<br />

everyone’s physical and mental health.<br />

protected. Strapping on a helmet slashes<br />
