This illustration is based on Newton’s Apple
Tree, located at the Clayton campus in the
Kenneth Hunt Memorial Garden. This tree was
a cutting from the original tree that inspired
Sir Isaac Newton to formulate his ideas
regarding motion and gravity.
1
Rather than depicting the tree and its history
with the conventional image of an apple
falling on Newton’s head, the artist has
interpreted it in a unique way. It indicates the
impact that Sir Isaac Newton’s theories had
on human history.
