Details: Tipi Spaces was delighted to be asked by
Goodwood Road & Racing to supply three ivory-white tipis
to create an exclusive hospitality space for one of its corporate
sponsors for the 80th Members’ Meeting. This is an historic
annual event and one of the biggest events in the Goodwood Motor
Sports calendar. 30,000 members of the Goodwood Road Racing Club
travel from all over the world to attend the event over two days.
This was the company’s first time working at Goodwood so it worked closely
with the health and safety team and event planners to ensure it understood
the sensitivities of the site and that it met its rigorous requirements.
The tipis are engineered to withstand severe weather conditions. Their
conical shape helps wind to blow around the structures making them
incredibly stable. This was put to the test at Goodwood!
Over the Easter Weekend up to 70mph gusts of wind were predicted in some
parts of the UK. The team returned to the site to take extra measures to secure
the tipi canvas. In line with Tipi Spaces’ weather management plan, the canvas
was lowered and additional stakes used to ensure it was secured into the
ground. Large hay bales were also used to create windbreaks.
The storm came and passed without causing any damage to the tipis and
the canvas was re-opened in time for guests to enjoy all the motor sport action
from inside.

nothing but positive feedback from our guests about the tipis! They thoroughly
enjoyed the event. Thank you for your support.”
