Showtime in Cheviot on Saturday<br />
The Mt Beautiful Cheviot A&PShow<br />
this Saturday, <strong>March</strong> 9, is offering afunfilled<br />
country fair for everyone of all<br />
ages to enjoy.<br />
The organising committee is keen to<br />
make it aday to remember as it holds its<br />
first show in three years.<br />
Cheviot A&PAssociation secretary<br />
Lorraine Gardner says the theme for<br />
this years show is ‘Grow Cheviot’.<br />
‘‘We wanted to showcase the talents of<br />
Cheviot, and we have got some pretty<br />
cool businesses on board and great<br />
entertainment by locals.’’<br />
One of the big events on the day will be<br />
the Cheviot A&P Show shearing<br />
competition, with big prize money up for<br />
grabs.<br />
The shearing competition starts at<br />
9am at the Cheviot A&P Showgrounds,<br />
Seddon Street, Cheviot, and contestants<br />
can enter on the day at the secretary's<br />
office.<br />
Ms Gardner said there are good cash<br />
prizes up for offer, along with plenty of<br />
good sheep to shear.<br />
For the young members of families,<br />
one of the attractions will be the<br />
MainPower Children’sPassport<br />
competition.<br />
Entrants are asked to visit selected<br />
sites at the show to complete aset task or<br />
answer questions posed by the site<br />
vendor.<br />
Once their passport is full of stamps<br />
they can hand it in and be in the draw to<br />
win prizes sponsored by MainPower and<br />
Cheviot Tea Rooms.<br />
Another highlight for the youngsters<br />
will be the Cheviot A&P Association’s<br />
Country Kid and Country Teen<br />
competitions sponsored by Rabobank.<br />
It is open for children aged 8to12, and<br />
teenagers aged 13 to 18 years of age.<br />
To enter, team up with afriend or<br />
sibling and your skills in arange of fun<br />
novelty and farming activities while<br />
competing for $500 in Hunting and<br />
Fishing vouchers.<br />
Register at the Rabobank tent from<br />
9am and complete the activities during<br />
the day.<br />
Ms Gardner said Sturgeons<br />
Entertainment will again have many fun<br />
rideon attractions, sideshows and<br />
anything else you might expect from an<br />
A&P show.<br />
Admission is cash only at the gate this<br />
year, however there will be an ATM on<br />
site.<br />
Gates open at 9am, with<br />
entertainment running from 9.30am.<br />
There will be acommunity barbecue<br />
at the end of the day starting at 5.30pm.<br />
Entry to the show is $10 for adults, and<br />
children under 16 are free.<br />
