Tips to Stay Safe
Watch the weather
Check the weather before you head out. There is a
heat warning in effect April to October. Hike in the
early morning or evening when it's cooler.
Dress appropriately
Wear hiking or athletic shoes, a hat and sunscreen.
Loose fitting clothing may get stuck or caught on
desert vegetation.
Bring water
Hydrate before you leave. Bring plenty of water
with you. Turn around and head back before your
water is halfway gone.
Keep in contact
Carry a cell phone and tell someone where you are
going and when you expect to return.
Be a courteous and cautious pet owner
Dogs must be kept on a leash. Please clean up after
them. Be mindful of the heat.
Don’t trailblaze
Stay on the designated paths and trails. Respect
the desert plant life. Do not pick wildflowers.
Respect the wildlife
Never approach or feed wildlife. Observe quietly
from a distance.
