KNITTING
Enjoy a new hobby! Make wonderful items for
yourself, your family, or your friends. Classes
will be small for individualized help from the
instructor. Register early so you don’t miss
out! Required knitting materials will be printed on your
registration form.
Beginning Knitting (6 weeks)
Wendy Tolley
Discover how much fun it is to knit! No previous experience
necessary. Gain basic skills – knit, purl, casting-on, binding
off, and finishing. Choose a knitting project after the first
class. You will be amazed at all the things you can make after
only 6 classes. Session “B” is a repeat of session A. Tuesday’s
class will not meet on 9/23 or 10/14. Wednesday’s class will
not meet on 9/24 or 10/15.

Choose Your Own Knitting Project (4 weeks)

Have a project that you would love to finish but you are not
able to understand the instructions? Maybe you are ready to
try something new like knitting a pair of gloves, socks, baby
sweater, or a lace shawl for yourself. Whatever you choose
you can get expert help learning new techniques and being
successful. Make sure you have your pattern and all the
supplies needed! Session B is a repeat of session A. Class
will not meet on 11/26.

Everyday Signs: Communicate with the Deaf
in 10 Easy Lessons (10 weeks)
Katie Halling
Learn to communicate in ASL conversationally in ten easy
lessons. The mode of our learning will be to sign together
and participate in conversation, FROM THE VERY FIRST
MOMENT OF CLASS. This may seem overwhelming, but
remember, sign language is drawing a picture of what you want
to say using your hands, body and face. Come and join the fun!
A textbook is required, Talking with Your Hands, Listening with
Your Eyes, by Gabriel Grayson; available in FVCC bookstore.

NEW! Laugh ‘n’ Learn Spanish (12 weeks)

Laugh your way to speaking Spanish. Learning a language
does not have to be dull and boring. Learn the most frequently
used Spanish words, important phrases and sentences to help
you get around, watch video clips and read cartoons (out loud)
in Spanish to sharpen your listening skills, play games and
sing songs to practice speaking skills – and have fun too. No
matter what your learning style, this class is for you! Class

Introduction to Latin (12 weeks)
Michael Jaworsky
An excellent opportunity to discover one of the “mother
tongues” of English. By the end of the class, you will be
able to translate easy passages from Latin and you will gain
a good grounding in the grammar, syntax and vocabulary of
the English language. A command of Latin will also prepare
you for learning the Romance languages more readily. A
textbook is required, Wheelock’s Latin, by Frederic M.
Wheelock; approximately $20. Textbook available in the
FVCC bookstore. Class will not meet on 11/26.

Bookscapes: Beneath the Big Sky
Experience the landscapes and history
that inspired Montana authors.
Trip Dates:
September 19-23, 2008
Check-in: Friday 3-5 p.m., Kandahar Lodge in Whitefish,
Montana. Return to Whitefish Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 23.
Spend five days traveling by deluxe motor coach with
fellow book lovers. Instructor Mac Swan will lead
book discussions and help you to connect the literature
to the landscape and people as you journey to each
of your destinations. Enjoy fine dining and deluxe
accommodations at Kandahar Lodge, East Glacier Lodge
and Double Arrow Ranch in Seeley Lake.
