ServSafe is a nationally acclaimed program sponsored by the National Restaurant Association, that includes eight hours of handson and classroom instruction on safe food preparation and handling. Become officially certified in ServSafe by passing the certification exam. Owners and managers are encouraged to pursue certification for business enhancement; those who receive certification can utilize this achievement for business promotion through advertising and display. Topics will include in-depth information regarding food handling practices, preparation, storage, food-borne illnesses, prevention, and HACCP as well as establishment liability and customers’ perceptions of cleanliness versus legal standards. R. 144 A/B Phlebotomy Technician Trina Heinz & Diane Praxel This course is designed for individuals interested in becoming ASCP board certified as a phlebotomy technician. The course includes 40 hours of classroom instruction and 120 hours (to be arranged) of clinical rotations for practical experience. Learn proper blood drawing, safety procedures, basic anatomy and physiology, special procedures, quality management and legal issues involved in blood collection. In order to enroll in the course applicants must complete the Phlebotomy Technician Program Application, which is available in the Continuing Education Center. Deadline for application for the course is August 18 and space is limited to 8 students based on first application packet completed, first registered. Clinical rotations may be scheduled between the dates of 9/10-11/14. Required textbook is available in the FVCC Bookstore ($69). Mon. & Wed.
