(NpDP) <strong>of</strong>fers educational workshops and seminars on<br />

a variety <strong>of</strong> topics relevant to nonpr<strong>of</strong>it organizations.<br />

NpDP is dedicated to sustaining and enhancing the<br />

effectiveness <strong>of</strong> nonpr<strong>of</strong>it organizations through<br />

education and capacity-building opportunities in the<br />

<strong>Flathead</strong> region.<br />

Who Should Attend?<br />

Anyone involved as staff, board member, or volunteer<br />

in nonpr<strong>of</strong>it organizations (and those interested in<br />

understanding the nonpr<strong>of</strong>it world) will benefit from<br />

these programs. Our workshops are <strong>of</strong>fered at no charge,<br />

thanks to the support <strong>of</strong> the Sustainability Fund.<br />

ServSafe Essentials & Certification Course<br />

Michelle Hadwin with McDonald’s<br />

Designed for chefs, cooks, servers, owners and<br />

operators, this class will safeguard your business<br />

and your customers through safe food handling! ServSafe is<br />

a nationally acclaimed program sponsored by the National<br />

Restaurant Association, that includes eight hours <strong>of</strong> handson<br />

and classroom instruction on safe food preparation and<br />

handling. Become <strong>of</strong>ficially certified in ServSafe by passing<br />

the certification exam. Owners and managers are encouraged<br />

to pursue certification for business enhancement; those who<br />

receive certification can utilize this achievement for business<br />

promotion through advertising and display. Topics will include<br />

in-depth information regarding food handling practices,<br />

preparation, storage, food-borne illnesses, prevention, and<br />

HACCP as well as establishment liability and customers’<br />

perceptions <strong>of</strong> cleanliness versus legal standards.<br />

Phlebotomy Technician<br />

Trina Heinz & Diane Praxel<br />

This course is designed for individuals interested in becoming<br />

ASCP board certified as a phlebotomy technician. The<br />

course includes 40 hours <strong>of</strong> classroom instruction and 120<br />

hours (to be arranged) <strong>of</strong> clinical rotations for practical<br />

experience. Learn proper blood drawing, safety procedures,<br />

basic anatomy and physiology, special procedures, quality<br />

management and legal issues involved in blood collection.<br />

In order to enroll in the course applicants must complete<br />

the Phlebotomy Technician Program Application, which is<br />

available in the Continuing Education Center. Deadline for<br />

application for the course is August 18 and space is limited<br />

to 8 students based on first application packet completed, first<br />

registered. Clinical rotations may be scheduled between the<br />

dates <strong>of</strong> 9/10-11/14. Required textbook is available in the<br />

FVCC Bookstore ($69).<br />
