novelist, playwright, story-teller who was born in Portaferry made<br />

Over ten years <strong>Féile</strong> has org<strong>an</strong>ised a successful, <strong>an</strong>nual short story<br />
competition mostly aimed at Belfast schools <strong>an</strong>d young people.<br />
This year, inspired by a proposal by local writer Patricia Gormley,<br />
<strong>Féile</strong> held its inaugural short story competition for over-60s,<br />
named after the late Jimmy Ginley, a former resident of Tearm<strong>an</strong>n<br />
<strong>an</strong>d a talented story teller. The prize giving for this competition<br />
will be <strong>an</strong>nounced at this event <strong>an</strong>d will include readings, music<br />

‘The White’s Christmas’ - A Blackbird Theatre Production<br />

Set in Donegal in 1975. The White family, Joe, Mary <strong>an</strong>d Sadie<br />
leave Belfast to get away from the ole troubles, seeking refuge in<br />
<strong>an</strong> old run-down cottage in Donegal lo<strong>an</strong>ed to them by Prontious<br />
<strong>an</strong>d Consolata, Joe’s cousins. Things do not go according to pl<strong>an</strong><br />
when Kathleen, wee Tarquin <strong>an</strong>d Deirdre turn up to join them.<br />
They soon discover that they are not alone in the ghostly<br />
cottage…Will they enjoy their holiday-break or will it turn into a<br />

Les Impossibles is a surrealist comedy borne from the abstract mind of its writer <strong>an</strong>d director Grainne Curist<strong>an</strong>. Les<br />
Impossibles follows the lives of Actor 1 <strong>an</strong>d Actor 2 as they embark upon devising <strong>an</strong>d creating a play, highlighting the<br />
highs <strong>an</strong>d lows of attempting such a task whilst asking a number of questions along the way. At Large Theatre received <strong>an</strong><br />
overwhelming positive response to its perform<strong>an</strong>ce of Les Impossibles in Dublin December 2011 <strong>an</strong>d are now set to<br />
showcase their premier production at this year’s 2012 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Admission £5
