King of the Bay – <strong>Féile</strong>’s Open Water Swim Challenge<br />

B<strong>an</strong>gor & Crawfordsburn, Co. Down, Sun 12th Aug<br />

750m swimmers meet at Crawfordsburn at 4.45pm for 5.30pm<br />

start. 4km swimmers meet at B<strong>an</strong>gor Marina (Pickie Pool) at<br />

6.15pm for 7pm start. –<strong>Féile</strong>’s second Open Water Swim<br />

Challenge features two new races! For newcomers there is the<br />

750 metre swim at Crawfordsburn. For the more experienced<br />

there is the 4 kilometre swim from B<strong>an</strong>gor to Crawfordsburn.<br />

Music, food, refreshments, <strong>an</strong>d family entertainment<br />

throughout. Over 16 years only particip<strong>an</strong>ts. Parental/guardi<strong>an</strong><br />

school of football jersey. Established by Paddy Cunningham,<br />

Derry’s Paddy Bradley, Down’s Benny Coulter, Tyrone's Bri<strong>an</strong> Mc<br />

Guig<strong>an</strong> & Armagh’s Ron<strong>an</strong> Clarke. Other coaches include past<br />

<strong>an</strong>d present players, such as Peter C<strong>an</strong>av<strong>an</strong>, Tony Scullion, Paul<br />

Sport <strong>an</strong>d Leisure Swifts FC have teamed up with PIPS (Public<br />

Initiative for the Preventions of Suicide & Self-harm) <strong>an</strong>d Oscailt<br />

/<strong>Féile</strong>. We are hosting a fun day to raise money for PIPS at our<br />

grounds where we have been playing football in the IFA<br />

Championship 2 league for the past three seasons. We will be<br />

holding a mini 6-a-side football tournament as well as providing<br />

<strong>an</strong> assault course, rodeo, crazy golf, baby ball pit <strong>an</strong>d other<br />

entertainment for all the family to enjoy throughout the day.<br />

<strong>Féile</strong> & the GAA centre stage at Stormont. Some of our best-known hurling <strong>an</strong>d camogie talent will compete for the<br />

Edward Carson Trophy in the senior men’s <strong>an</strong>d ladies Poc Fada. There will also be a ‘celebrity’ Poc Fada, where local<br />

politici<strong>an</strong>s, community representatives, sports stars <strong>an</strong>d local celebrities will battle it out to be crowned <strong>Féile</strong> Poc Fada champion. Also, <strong>an</strong>-<br />

U10 hurling <strong>an</strong>d camogie blitz on the front lawns of Stormont, showcasing the best of underage Gaelic Games. 10.30 – 12.30pm – Stormont<br />
