Bolonia – miasto
z temperamentem
trudno uwierzyć w określenie „miasto z temperamentem”,
kiedy stanie się w południe na Piazza Maggiore w Bolonii. Gołębie
spokojnie dziobią bruk przed bazyliką św. Petrioniusza –
– jedną z najpiękniejszych gotyckich budowli na południe od Alp.
także spacer przed fontannę Neptuna, o pół wieku starszą od
gdańskiej i bardzo do niej podobną, nie dostarczy nam emocji.
Jest ciepło, sennie, jak w innych włoskich miastach, których centrum
pamięta średniowiecze. Ale nie dajmy się zmylić – Bolonia
to miasto lekko szalone.
Decydują o tym studenci. Uniwersytet w Bolonii jest najstarszą
uczelnią świata zachodniego. Powstał w roku 1088, a 70 lat
później Fryderyk Barbarossa nadał mu przywilej, dzięki któremu
uniwersytet zyskał eksterytorialność i niezależność od władzy
świeckiej. Potem ten dokument kopiowali założyciele uczelni
w Padwie, Krakowie, Pradze, Paryżu i Oksfordzie. w 350-tysięcznej
Bolonii studentów jest... 100 000 na 23. wydziałach. A zapytani
o najsłynniejszego absolwenta uczelni odpowiadają, że jest
ich trzech: Dante Aligheri, Mikołaj Kopernik i – bijący tamtych
popularnością – sędzia piłkarski Pierluigi Collina, którego łysinę
zna cały świat.

At midday on the Piazza Maggiore in Bologna, it’s difficult to
believe that it’s really such a “tempremental” city. the pigeons
are peacefully pecking the cobble stones in front of the Basilica
of San Petronio – one of the most stunning examples of gothic
architecture south of the Alps. A walk to the fountain of Neptune,
which is not only half a century older than the one in Gdansk but
also bearing more than a passing resemblance to it, could set
your heartrate up a notch, but it’s a warm and sleepy city just
like any other in Italy, whose centres remember the Middle Ages.
But don’t let this fool you – Bologna is just a little bit crazy.
