calls almost every 14 days.<br />
The following items were reviewed and reported on by the<br />
Dressage Task Force:<br />
- Review the issues surrounding the very signifi cant area of<br />
the training and development, assessment and selection of<br />
judges for major Championships and Olympic Games; review<br />
of a randomised/computerised judge selection process;<br />
- The fi tness for purpose of the method of judging Dressage<br />
competitions in terms of the number of judges, their<br />
positioning and the judging process;<br />
- Review the format and participation for Olympic Games<br />
- The system for qualifi cation for Championships, and the<br />
receipt of Certifi cates of Capability for Championships,<br />
World Cups, and the Olympic Games;<br />
- Review the consultation process within the discipline in<br />
order to determine the way it affects the structure of the<br />
committee in order to ensure maximum involvement<br />
by the key stakeholders, both internal to the sport and<br />
external within the greater sporting/Olympic & Paralympic<br />
environment;<br />
- The issue of ‘Welfare of the horse’ was not originally<br />
included in the tasks for the DTF but was also included<br />
in the fi nal report as was an item entitled “series in the<br />
dressage sport”.<br />
JUMPING COMMITTEE<br />
The Jumping Committee met twice during the course of 2009:<br />
once in Lausanne on 3-4 March and once by telephone conference<br />
on 23 September. The main items / activities included:<br />
Jumping Rules<br />
Several clarifi cations, corrections and minor modifi cations were<br />
made to the Rules for Jumping Events.<br />
<strong>FEI</strong> World Cup Jumping<br />
The <strong>FEI</strong> World Cup Jumping Rules for the Central European<br />
League were modifi ed to give more importance to the League<br />
Final. The second competition of the Rolex <strong>FEI</strong> World Cup Final,<br />
effective 2011, will be run under Art. 238.2.2 to provide a clear<br />
classifi cation before the Final competition, easier for the public<br />
to understand.<br />
<strong>FEI</strong> Nations Cup Series<br />
The series will return to the format of eight teams in the Top<br />
League for 2011. All Top League events will be re-evaluated in<br />
2010.<br />
Olympic Games<br />
The rules for the fi rst qualifying competition of the Olympic<br />
Games were modifi ed to make the competition more<br />
interesting. The Committee also strongly supported a proposed<br />
modifi cation to the qualifi cation procedures specifi c to<br />
Olympic Groups C and G.<br />
Development of the Sport<br />
Allowing athletes from smaller NFs the possibility to obtain<br />
Certifi cates of Capability and points for the Rolex Rankings at<br />
CSIOs that cannot meet the prize money requirements of 4*<br />
events will enable the sport to grow in regions outside of Europe<br />
and North America. CSI/CSIO requirements for North America<br />
were established to help align the sport where possible with the<br />
sport in Europe.<br />

Stewarding System<br />
The Stewarding system has been restructured and should be<br />
ready for implementation in 2010.<br />
Education of Offi cials<br />
The streamlining of Education systems will enable one integrated<br />
system for all offi cials across all disciplines, with ongoing<br />
evaluation and external verifi cation of procedures.<br />
Horse Welfare and Clean Sport<br />
The Committee will continue to monitor the situation on footing,<br />
boot controls and hyper-sensitisation.<br />
EVENTING COMMITTEE<br />
Over the course of 2009, the Eventing Committee held two<br />
meetings. The fi rst took place in Barroca d’Alva (POR) in<br />
March; the second was a conference call in September 2009.<br />
These meetings addressed, among others, the following:<br />
Eventing Rules<br />
<strong>FEI</strong> Rules for Eventing 23 rd edition amendments / updates to<br />
be implemented 1 July 2009 and 1 January 2010.<br />
Modifi cations/additions to the rules include the compulsory<br />
appointment by the National Federations organising Eventing<br />
events of a National Safety Offi cer (Art. 500.3), the use of the<br />
term “Minimum Eligibility requirement” instead of “Qualifying<br />
Result” (Art. 506), clarifi cation of the CIC Horse Inspections<br />
(Art. 518.2), Eventing Risk Management Vision Statement<br />
(Art. 519.1), Examination after a fall – Medical Fitness (Art<br />
519.4), etc.<br />
The Eventing Risk Management Programme<br />
Evaluation and action plan, vision statements, progress report<br />
(<strong>FEI</strong> database), National Safety Offi cers, etc.<br />
<strong>FEI</strong> Eventing Education Programmes<br />
Practical implementation of education programmes for Offi cials:<br />
regular Offi cials course programme, education of tutors for 2009<br />
courses, global education training programme for Offi cials and<br />
USA NF support of Eventing education in South America.<br />
World Cup format 2010 and rule changes<br />
Current World Cup concept review and proposal for 2010.<br />
2012 Olympic Games London<br />
Appointment of Technical Delegate, Cross Country distance,<br />
job description of Cross Country course advisor.<br />
HSBC <strong>FEI</strong> Classics Series<br />
Review of calendar, update of ranking rules, selection criteria, etc.<br />
DRIVING COMMITTEE<br />
In 2009, the <strong>FEI</strong> Driving Committee met in August in<br />
Kecskemet. Notwithstanding the economic crisis, and<br />
inclement weather conditions, the 2009 summer driving<br />
season was deemed very productive. A few events were<br />
cancelled due to lack of sponsorship but the events that<br />
took place were well attended.<br />
Two successful <strong>FEI</strong> World Championships were held in 2009<br />
– the <strong>FEI</strong> World Pony Driving Championships in Greven (GER)<br />
where 90 competitors from 18 Nations competed and the <strong>FEI</strong>
