GROUPS I & II
The member NFs of Groups I and II met three times in 2009:
On 10 March in Deauville (FRA), on 8 September in Antwerp
(BEL) and on 16 November in Copenhagen (DEN).
Deauville, 10 March 2009
The focus of this meeting was on the “Clean Sport” issue.
The day before, a working group had already discussed the
relevant topics. The attending NFs unanimously agreed to
their results on
- Stewarding;
- Medication Control Programme (MCP);
- Course Design;
- Legal Issues;
- Communication and Education.
Further topics were
- Nations Cup Series;
- European Matters;
- Future of the Equestrian Sport in the Olympic Games;
- Endurance.
Alex McLin and David Holmes attended the meeting; 26
nations, plus representatives of the athletes and organisers
took part.
Antwerp, 8 September 2009
Central points of this meeting were:
- Position concerning the FEI proposal for modifi cation of
structure, statutes and internal regulations;
- Clean Sport;
- European Continental Structure;
- Creation of a European Equestrian Forum (EEF).
Alex McLin and Liza Lazarus attended the meeting; 23 nations
plus representatives of the athletes and organisers took part.

Copenhagen, 16 November 2009
The term of the Chairman of Group I, Cesare Croce (ITA),
ended and Christian Paillot (FRA) was unanimously elected
by Group I as his successor.
The topics were
- Common Position on FEI Structure;
- Late Payment Interest;
- Clean Sport;
- Free Weekend (CSIO4* and 5*);
- Competitions not affi liated with FEI;
- Nationality of Competitors.
The Copenhagen meeting was overshadowed by the
discussions about the consequences of the Hong Kong
occurrences, the proposals of the Ethics Panel and the
decision of the Bureau regarding this topic. The NFs present
from Groups I and II expressed their unanimous confi dence in
the German offi cials in general and in the Chair of Group II in
particular. FEI accepted their decision.
FEI President HRH Princess Haya and FEI Secretary General
Alex McLin attended the Groups I and II meeting temporarily;
31 NFs plus representatives of the athletes and organisers
took part.
GROUP III
- Organised Endurance events for the fi rst time;
- ran fi rst FEI Course for Coaches Level 1 in Kyrgyzstan and
Level 2 in Russia. Both were very successful;
- held fi rst competitions in Caucasian Jumping League (two
CS12* events in Georgia and Azerbaijan);
- held Jumping competition (CSI3*) in Siberia (Khanty-
Mansiysk) for the fi rst time;
- began preparations for the 2010 World Equestrian Games
(European NFs) and the 2010 Asian Games (Asian NFs).
